Position Title:Sr. Human Factors Engineer

A Day in the Life

 

Mozarc Medical's newly created User Experience group supports all projects across the company and aims to align the areas of the projects that face the customer (design, labeling, packaging) in a single group. This HFE role will increase our capabilities of meeting our project and regulatory needs by applying Human Factors expertise throughout a product life cycle. This individual contributor will work closely with a more Senior Human Factors Engineer on assigned projects focused on dialysis technologies. Project teams include global and cross functional team members, including the rest of the User Experience team as well as systems engineering, software engineering, clinical, marketing, etc. The majority of this team member's time will be spent working on new or legacy technology, from design to implementation to release in the field, while adhering to policies and using specialized knowledge and skills.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Applies human centered principles, methodologies, and technologies to the design of human-machine systems and products.
  • Implements research methodologies and both qualitative and quantitative analysis plans to test and evaluate new concepts and developmental prototypes used in all phases of products development and processes.
  • Helps design and execute tests to simulate product use for the purposes of user need investigation, concept exploration/selection/refinement, requirements development, use-related risk identification and formal usability validation with intended users with design engineers to establish system design, operating, and training requirements and to ensure optimized human-machine interfaces and overall user experience.
  • Identifies and analyzes technological problems or risks, performs theoretical Human Factors investigations, and develops and implements research and analysis plans to inform the design direction of new product development.
  • Educates themselves on renal care clinical use cases in order to empathize with clinician and patient users
  • Think outside the box and work across functions to meet deadlines and deliver great products that meet customer needs
  • Learns the therapies and functions of the assigned products including experience in the engineering test lab as needed


Must Have

 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Factors or equivalent required with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience OR advanced degree in Human Factors or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience


Nice to Have

  • Demonstrated experience in Human Factors project activities across the product lifecycle, including post-market activities, with at least some strong areas of ownership
  • Ability to demonstrate solid knowledge of Human Factors guidance, regulations, and quality process requirements for the medical device industry
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to various Human Factors deliverables throughout product development, including but not limited to task analysis, use error analysis, test plans and reports.  
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with software and hardware teams to provide design inputs, optimizations, and updates for usability and safe and effective use.
  • Experience in a range of user testing methods, including formative evaluations, qualitative and quantitative methods, simulated use testing, and ability to perform data analysis to drive evidence-based product design
  • Experience performing Human Factors validation studies or analyses, including residual risk analyses OR proficient understanding of best practices
  • Experience in renal care products or similar technologies such as dialysis machines, home medical devices, disposable medical devices.

 

Travel: up to 10%, as needed for studies
