Job Description
Your Career
The Senior Hardware Sustaining Engineer is a key member of the Platform Hardware team that drives resolution of hardware issues experienced after product launch, both in the field and factory. You serve as the Hardware focal-point in cross-functional teams including Software, Operations and Customer Support. You will work with vendors on component level failure analysis. Responsibilities include: root cause analysis of hardware failures, new component qualification, and implementation of engineering changes for current products. Technologies include digital and analog circuits, voltage regulators, embedded processors, ASICs and FPGAs.
Your Impact
You are a hands-on Hardware Engineer who has a background in hardware design and Sustaining Engineering. You have been responsible for product failure analysis, driving issues to root-cause, testing and implementing design changes as needed.
Qualifications
Your Experience
- Strong debug and failure analysis skills from system to component level
- Perform root-cause analysis on product failures in the field and factory
- Create and execute test plans for hardware validation and component qualification
- Understand operation of communication interfaces such as PCIe, I2C, SPI, Ethernet, high-speed serdes, DDR4/5
- Review PCB layout - read and modify design schematics
- Expertise with hardware lab equipment including - oscilloscope, logic analyzer, DMM, protocol analyzers
- Outstanding teamwork skills - ability to influence across organizations
- Outstanding communication skills - provide regular status updates to stakeholders, targeted communications to various audiences
- Outstanding record keeping skills, including use of issue tracking software such as JIRA
- Familiarity with signal integrity and power integrity measurements
- Familiarity with x86 CPUs and BIOS
- Experience using scripting languages, especially Python, for test automation
- 7+ years experience in hardware engineering

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/com-missioned roles) is expected to be between $137,400/yr to $222,200/yr. The offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus. A description of our employee benefits may be found here.
