Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Senior GIS Technician, we'll count on you to
- Perform data input and editing of spatial data under minimal supervision
- Conduct complex spatial analyses using ArcGIS or other GIS software
- Prepare geoprocessing models using Spatial ModelBuilder, Python or other GIS scripting languages
- Prepare spatial databases for projects, perform routine database management, conduct data conversions, manage map projections and update metadata
- Perform field data collection as needed using mobile GIS/GPS equipment and conduct check-in/check-out of field data
- Prepare documented technical procedures
- Perform other duties as needed
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Geography, Planning, Engineering, Natural Science or closely related field, or a combination of education and relevant experience
- A minimum of 3 years practical GIS experience
- Proficient using ArcGIS and other related GIS software for editing, database development, and map production
- Strong cartographic skills
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access)
- Requires attention to detail, effective time management, ability to work independently or with a team, and excellent written and oral communication skills
- GISP Certification a plus
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
- Extensive experience with Survey123 and FieldMaps
- Ability to customize/configure mobile data collection applications
- Experience with GPS data collection platforms and technologies
- Experience working in the field to deliver environmental surveys
- Experience with ArcGIS Online
- Experience with RTK GPS, LiDAR, UAV a plus
- Experience with scripting languages (python, arcade, R) a plus
- Experience with SharePoint a plus
