The City of Auburn Engineering division is seeking a Senior GIS Specialistto join our Public Works Department. This position performs advanced, technical work in the use of Geographic Information System (GIS) software, databases, and other related software needed to input, maintain, and retrieve information from a Citywide computer mapping system and central spatial database.
Note: This position will be required to be fingerprinted and complete the CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Services) Security Certification Test to be allowed to view sensitive information and have unescorted access while at the Police Department (per Washington State Patrol ACCESS unit).

Primary Duties
In this role, you will:
  • Design and produce computer generated maps and reports of the City's infrastructure, topography, parcels, land use, and comprehensive plans through the use of GIS software.
  • Design, maintain, and analyze spatial databases through the use of GIS software and SQL (Structured Query Language) management studio.
  • Organize, maintain, update, evaluate, and retrieve information from various sources requiring close coordination with all principle providers and users of geographic information in other divisions and departments of the City, as well as outside agencies.
  • Provide general guidance, instructions, and interpretation on the uses of GIS data.

Minimum Qualifications
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR...
  • Two years college course work in GIS, or related field,

AND
  • Two years of successful work experience using ESRI ArcGIS 10.x or above, GIS, and other related software;

OR
  • A combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform the above essential functions for the position. Additional experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
