D&G is seeking a highly talented Senior General Counsel – Attorney to support the Defense Logistics Agency Logistics Operations (DLA) Office of General Counsel (OGC) Strategic Policy Development. The DLA OGC is responsible for all legal matters in support of DLA at the nation’s premier combat logistics support agency. The ideal candidate will have Senior Staff Judge Advocate and/or General Counsel experience supporting DLA and/or a DoD headquarters level logistics agency. This is an outstanding opportunity to be part of a multifunctional team supporting one of DoD’s highest priority organizations.
Responsibilities:
- Provide senior level counsel and legal policy expertise and support the development/update of DLA OGC’s Strategy and Policies, that define how OGC supports DLA and DLA’s Major Subordinate Commands (MSC) at the headquarters and operational levels.
- Support the development of courses of action and draft guidance relative to the roles, responsibilities, authorities and challenges of OGC’s oversight and support of procurement, sustainment, workforce, and other core DLA mission areas.
- Provide subject matter expertise from government and industry best legal practices that could potentially improve the OGC’s support to DLA, to include developing performance metrics for OGC meeting it’s the DLA Directors and OGC’s annual goals and objectives.
- Education: J.D. Degree
- Experience: 10 years’ DoD legal experience; 5 years Headquarters level staff experience.
- Clearance Eligible
- Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
- Experience with DLA and/or other DoD Logistics Agencies
- Secret Clearance
