Summary of Position
This position is responsible for the timely completion of audit procedures as assigned which includes planning, performance of fieldwork, and writing financial audit report. This position consistently leads a team during the audit process. This position will lead financial audits in credit unions up to the $500 million in assets.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform audit procedures in an accurate and timely manner on more complex, and larger credit unions.
- Consistently lead financial audit jobs.
- Consistently supervise a staff of 1-3 people in the field. Provide explicit directions and feedback.
- Review loan portfolio to determine compliance with state and federal regulations, bylaws, and credit union policy.
- Evaluate credit union controls to determine if the controls exist and are being properly utilized.
- Analyze results of audit tests to determine compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate results of tests to determine compliance with accounting procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate with client regarding progress and problems during the fieldwork.
- Direct the preparation of a written report detailing the results of the audit in a clear and concise manner
- Conduct exit meetings with Audit/Supervisory Committee and/or Board of Directors to discuss the findings of the audit.
- Assist Vice President and/or Office Supervisor with administrative tasks such as bank reconciliations, member account verifications.
- Assist in evaluating and planning audit assignments to provide optimum utilization of field staff.
- Direct activities of the audit by assigning various audit procedures to field staff; provide ongoing guidance.
- Review and approve work papers of field staff to ensure proper completion of assigned audit procedures.
- Communicate with client on an ongoing basis to keep them apprised of progress, problems and recommendations.
- Perform any or all parts of the audit procedures based on job size and staff availability.
- Performs internal audits as needed.
- Performs on-site BSA and ACH Audits, create written and oral presentations.
- Assist the Vice President, SCAR AVP, and SCAR Field Supervisor in various administrative duties such as training new employees and assisting with employee performance reviews.
- Perform specialized technical jobs such as proof of loss audits, bond claims, and record reconstruction.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification: These abilities are normally acquired through completion of a high school education plus a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration specializing in accounting or other related field.
Required Knowledge: Working knowledge of auditing principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required.
Experience Required: At least 3 years of audit, CU Accounting or similar or related experience required.
Skills/Abilities: Professional, well-developed interpersonal skills essential for communicating information to clients and co-workers. .Intermediate mathematical skills required (calculations and concepts involving decimals, percentages, fractions, etc.).
