As a Senior Enterprise Architect, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of Simpson Strong Tie’s corporate SAP Finance and ERP Systems, with a focus on SAP Enterprise Applications and will be responsible for working with business process owners and Subject Matter Expert’s (SMEs) to understand business processes within the areas of Different SAP Modules, the major focus will be on ensuring that solutions designed in our SAP ERP environment are completed with a sustainable, high quality, and best practice design in mind. Sr Enterprise Architect role will lead innovation and digital transformation initiatives for SAP Projects within Simpson. The responsibilities of this role include creating strategic and tactical roadmaps as well as Interim and end state Architectures to chart the deployment of digital solutions SAP offers while developing compelling business cases to help guide our Simpson’s strategic decision-making activities.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the different SAP modules as a functional/technical expert and hands-on configurator but will also have a broad understanding of SAP across multiple SAP modules. He/she should have implementation experience with a global manufacturing company, and understand both systems configuration, and overall systems architecture in an SAP environment. He/she should be familiar with SAP’s ecosystem of solutions and solutions providers, and be able to guide business decisions on functionality, software selection, and vendor selection. The Enterprise Architect will also be responsible for technical delivery and have project management responsibilities as part of his/her job role. This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface and manage relationships with business partners, IT, senior management and vendor organizations. This position is a member of the Project Management Team reporting to the Director, Global ERP and Finance Applications.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)

Manages projects of large size and scope with minimal direction including project planning, execution, timing, functionality, quality and cost. Delivers portfolio of approved IT projects/deliverable on time, on budget, with expected quality and value generation. Translate user’s requests into application system solutions. Analyzes system user requirements to define and design system configuration, enhancements, and modifications. Resolves business issues by working with various groups within and outside of the company (ie. system users, company management, consultants, and software support staff) Work in multidisciplinary teams to define and design complex processes and procedures for the configuration, upgrade, and maintenance of SAP and related application systems. Designs test plans, executes test scenarios, validates test data, and documents test results. Coordinates end-user training documentation and trains end users as required. (60%)

Develops functional standards, best practice guidelines, solution diagrams, and documentation standards for all ERP and related solutions. Ensures that standards are adhered to, and that documentation and change control processes are followed across the Applications Organization. (10%)

Develop strategic roadmaps and architectures encompassing the evolution of enterprise business solution portfolios from current to future state. (10%)

Works with partners and vendor organizations and provides oversight on all functional deliverables. Ensures that we have consistency across all our processes and enhancement work. Ensures that work provided by partners meets Simpson’s internal standards, and is ultimately accountable for the solutions delivered. (10%)

Participates and provides input to overall IT Systems and Applications Strategy for IT, and drives the overall realization of value for IT Initiatives. Will be jointly responsible for Data Governance initiatives and will help to make sure that Data Governance goals are met. (10%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • B.S. degree in engineering, computer science or related technical field, required.
  • PMP Certification, preferred.
  • SAP Certification in one or more modules, preferred.
  • A minimum of 12+ years SAP implementation experience with hands-on configuration experience in the Multiple SAP Modules.
  • 10 years global manufacturing company experience preferable with both discrete and continuous manufacturing models.
  • Hands on Experience in SAP Modules with at least 4+ implementation projects SAP ECC/ S4 HANA.
  • Experience in managing functional and ABAP resources during projects and collaborated with ABAP professionals for user exits, custom reports, and internal service requests.
  • Project Management
    • Enterprise-level project implementation experience specifically with ERP implementations
    • Ability to meet strict deadlines and work with multiple groups and stakeholders to deliver solutions.
    • Demonstrated success working with business partners to evaluate, recommend, and implement highly available, secure, mission-critical applications.
    • Demonstrated experience managing projects within a defined SDLC process.
  • Manufacturing company experience
    • Domestic and international implementation experience.
    • Strong knowledge of SAP Ecosystem solutions and partners and the ability to lead selection processes.
  • Leadership
    • Self-starter who demonstrates creativity in solving problems or generating improvement ideas.
    • Able to prioritize competing or conflicting requests.
    • Must exhibit strong communication skills.
    • Supports and maintains positive attitude and vision with peers, associates, team members and management.
  • SAP certification(s) is a plus.
  • Responsibility for designing custom solutions within the ECC landscape as well as solutions involving integrations with external systems.
  • Global manufacturing company experience preferable with both discrete and continuous manufacturing models.
  • Very good communication skills and people management skills.

Travel

This position requires domestic and international travel up to 30% of the time.

This full-time, exempt position is located in Pleasanton, CA. Remote work will be considered.

Pay

$141300 - $190700 / year

  • Posted pay range is based upon the national average and may vary depending on geographical work location.
