The Senior Engineering Technician is responsible for the building of electro-mechanical assemblies, wiring harness, bring up, and test (functional, run-In, thermal and optical calibration). Work closely with test engineers to validate first article modules, systems, and record. Bring up new engineering PCB boards, installed/updated firmware and OS, and applied engineering changes or other experimental reworks.
This position is part of the Engineering, NPI team and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Debug, test and repair the GX products including the boards, sub-assemblies and system
- Able to read schematic to perform necessary builds, SOPs, and various ECO, DCO, and AWF changes in Agile.
- Work directly with the engineering design team (R&D) in prototyping, and other cross-functional teams (PD, NPI, SI).
- Build, test and validate test fixtures.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- High School diploma with 6+ years of engineering experience or AA/Technical trade degree with 5+ years of engineering experience or Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of engineering experience.
- Experience with mechanical components such as hand tools, calipers, and force gauges.
- Experience with electrical components such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and soldering irons.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Engineering lab experience
- Experience with electromechanical industrial equipment, with knowledge of motors, valves, pumps, solenoids, and filters.

The hour pay range for this role is ($43.00-$53.00). This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
