Working Conditions
This position is located in Sacramento and is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule. At least three days of remote work and up to two days of in-office work per week is the available hybrid telework schedule for this position.
Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be admitted to the job interview but must show proof of residence in California prior to being eligible for appointment.

- Statement of Qualifications - Please submit a narrative describing your qualifications (referring to the desirable qualifications listed in this job posting) to manage the Abandoned Mine Lands program, supervising technical staff. Your response will be evaluated for content as well as writing proficiency. The SOQ must be typed, single-spaces, in size 11-point font, with 1-inch margins, and not more than 2 pages in length.

- Knowledge and experience leading, motivating, and advocating for a diverse team of subject matter experts, organizing and prioritizing their work.
- Knowledge and experience communicating (verbally and in writing) complex geological/ scientific, policy, and program information to a spectrum of audiences, including technical staff, managers, and the public.
- Knowledge and experience engaging, facilitating, and collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including across local, state, and/or federal agencies/departments and Tribes.
- Knowledge and experience writing and editing geologic/scientific and programmatic documents.
- Knowledge and experience conducting or overseeing abandoned mine inventory/inspections/investigations and remediating associated hazards.
- Ability to analyze information, strategically explore alternative approaches, develop and communicate defensible policy positions.
