We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Developer to design and develop embedded medical device software. The ideal candidate will have experience with embedded software development in the areas listed below and be able to drive the development of high-quality, reliable and effective software. This role requires a deep understanding of embedded systems, strong programming skills, and the ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
What You’ll Work On
- Lead and contribute to software platform architecture and application development activities with project teams
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop and implement software solution. Serve as a key technical contributor and provide technical guidance and mentorship to the software development and cross-functional teams
- Ensure software meets all quality, safety, and regulatory requirements
- Participate in and support the implementation, development, enhancements, and modifications to software source code, scripts, and procedures;
- Debug, troubleshoot, and isolate software problems as well as offers strategic solutions, analysis, and advice regarding identified issues for future development;
- Contribute to and supports writing, updating, developing and maintaining Hazard/Risk analysis specifications;
- Present at design reviews; documents and resolves issues as directed.
- Contribute to and supports reviews held by other engineers on related projects and provide useful feedback.
- Contribute to and supports a variety of test phase efforts.
- Review project deliverables such as specifications, code, and test/tool procedures for feasibility, thoroughness, clarity, correctness, and accuracy.
- Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
- Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
- Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Software engineering, computer science, or a related engineering field.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in embedded system design, formal software development methodologies, and source code management.
- Experience writing code in C, C++ in a resource constrained environment.
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles such as secure boot, secure code execution.
- Experience with interfacing a microcontroller to external peripherals.
- Experience developing products with Nordic Semiconductor SoC’s.
- Demonstrated experience using Trusted Platform Module / ARM Trustzone or equivalent.
- Experience with bus communication protocols such as SPI, UART, I2C.
- Hands on experience working with the RTOS. Zephyr OS is preferred. Linux is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
- Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of TLS communications, cipher suites and their use to establish state-of-the-art secure connectivity.
- Good understanding of Azure IoT, DPS, REST API usage and cloud connectivity concepts.
- Experience in working with nRF Connect SDK.
Experience working within the medical device or highly regulated environment.
