Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Nighthawk Flight Systems, located in Vista, California, is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in modern avionics. We operate in a Skunkworks-style environment with small teams with a get-it-done attitude. Nighthawk develops and manufactures advanced avionics components and accessories for large and small commercial and military fixed and rotary-wing aircraft. We are an FAA Production Approval Holder with a certified Repair Station, additionally holding AS 9100D and ISO 9001 certifications.

This is a full-time on-site role for a Mid-Level Embedded Software Engineer at Nighthawk Flight Systems, Inc. in Vista, CA. You will be responsible for maintaining, and developing new features for legacy and existing avionics products, entailing navigation database maintenance and development, software design, Embedded Software development, debugging, verification and validation testing, FAA compliant certification documentation, and other related tasks.

Salary commensurate with the applicant’s level of relevant experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of Experience in Embedded Software development
• Strong knowledge of software design concepts and programming methodologies
• Ability to debug complex embedded systems in assembly, and C/C++
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Experience with real-time operating systems such as ThreadX, FreeRTOS or SafeRTOS
• Experience with desktop or embedded Linux a plus
• Experience with database systems such as FoxPro and PostgreSQL
• Experience with Unit Testing and code-coverage analysis a plus
• Experience with software development tools and debugging tools, such as Git, JIRA, Eclipse, Visual Studio, or PC-Lint
• Knowledge of avionics systems, RTCA/DO-178C, and FAA regulations is highly desirable
