The Senior Director provides strategic leadership, direction and oversight for all Oncology Solid Tumor Scientific Communication, Medical Information and Dissemination Strategies across the portfolio. This position is responsible for developing and executing strategies for providing quality and compliant data dissemination, Medical Information services, recruiting, hiring, training and providing stretch opportunities for the organization. Creates a work environment that promotes continuous learning, open exchange and sharing, and fostering a team environment amongst associates.
Essential Functions:
Lead the development of high quality medical content to ensure clear, scientific communication of TA approved medicines, pipeline products and technologies
Drive the medical communications, publication and Med Info activities across the TA portfolio.
Lead the medical communications team and play an integral role in strategy development, planning, and execution of high-quality scientific publications
In partnership with the MSL National Heads develop quality content for MSL use in the field.
Oversee and provide strategic guidance to the CME planning
Oversee and provide strategic guidance to Conference planning and execution
Collaborate and partner closely with other functions and departments.
Program Development:
Oversee all development and provision of Medical Information to health care providers and consumers, ensuring quality and fair balanced information and compliance with all legal, regulatory, and health care compliance guidelines affecting the practice of Medical Information delivery. Work closely with colleagues in medical affairs and businesses to ensure dissemination of scientific evidence in an appropriate manner.
Combines the knowledge of science, the pharmaceutical industry, and government regulations to identify opportunities for the Medical Communications group to identify potential opportunities or issues.
Ensures that cutting edge information technology is evaluated and employed when appropriate to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the MedInfo groups.
Maintains awareness of changing conditions in the health care and regulatory environment that affect the operations and use of MedInfo resources.
Benchmarks other Medical Information groups in pharmaceutical industry to maintain a best-in-class organization
Create and Execute Scientific Content and Amplification:
Develop and implement a scientific plan and associated SOPs for the Medical Information department within regulatory guidelines that meet scientific needs of customers and businesses. Support allocation of resources and strategic plans with needs assessment evidence. Align direct reports with business strategies. Communicate and place an emphasis on the importance of developing strong relationships and delivering quality service to all customers. Maximize both financial and human resources. Work within department budgets.
Qualifications
Qualifications
9-12 years’ healthcare industry experience (including 5 years in Pharma Sci Comm, Medical Information experience or 8 equivalent Agency leadership role)
5 years of people management experience
Doctoral degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, or DO)
Oncoogy experience highly preferred
Experience working with partners in sales, marketing, clinical development, field medical groups
Medical communications, writing, Medical Information, scientific research and digital technologies.
Deep knowledge of Integrated Scientific Communications Strategy & its components, Good Publication Practices (ISMPP), and ACCME guidelines.
Strategic thinking and execution excellence
Strong collaboration, problem-solving and ability to influence others
Strong knowledge of US and global healthcare systems, strong knowledge of the healthcare market and the agencies and guidelines regulating the pharmaceutical industry; strong knowledge of Medical Information process and technologies
Excellent written, verbal communication skills .
Excellent interpersonal skills, client relationship management experience and creativity / problem-solving compliantly.
Resource Management - Manage department of professional and managerial levels across several therapeutic areas for maximum efficiencies
