Job Description:
The Senior Director of Research Strategy and Operations is a key member of the College of Medicine (COM) leadership team, providing direction and oversight for research administration for the COM, ensuring efficient and effective operations that support the COM's strategic research mission. The Senior Director advises the Dean, the Chief Scientific Officer, the Associate Deans for Research, and other key leaders on strategic and operational issues impacting the research mission within the COM and contributes to the strategic planning process related to advancing research, defining the operational activities required for successful implementation and sustainability. The Senior Director provides administrative and operational oversight for the COM Office of Research, providing a collaborative environment guided by exceptional customer service and continuous process improvement standards. The Senior Director attracts sponsors and external collaborators, and empowers investigators, focusing on portfolio growth in high-impact research and strategically important areas for the University.
Minimum Required Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 12 years of leadership experience in clinical research operations, research operations, human subject research, and/or federal award research management. Experience in strategic planning and development in an academic research environment. Capable of working independently with proven written and oral communication skills. Strong organizational, interpersonal skills, and supervisory skills. Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain long-term, collaborative relationships with research community stakeholders in a complex environment with a record of results to achieve mutual goals. Experience leading research operations. The candidate must also possess a foundation in research regulations and compliance risk management controls. Proven leadership record of accomplishment, including the development and execution of initiatives, policies, and processes and the ability to motivate and inspire contributors in a collaborative, goal-oriented fashion. With a focus on continuous process improvement proactively seeks out opportunities to improve customer service, inter-institutional collaboration, operational efficiency, revenue generation, and strategic partnerships (internal and external).
Additional Desired Qualifications
Master's degree in business administration or other relevant field. Experience working in an academic medical center. A record of accomplishment working with faculty and institutional administration
