Team Overview:

Impinj is seeking a Senior Director for our Platform Engineering team. As the technical and people leader of the Platform Engineering team, you will lead and manage the team who researches and develops innovative solutions for RAIN RFID readers and gateways as well as various signal processing features and algorithms that are the foundation of our enterprise customers engagements. In this position, you will lead the collaboration with the Platform Software, Hardware, and Systems Engineering teams to design and develop the RAIN RFID algorithms at the core of our Platform Solutions, which are foundation of our enterprise engagements. The Platform Engineering team works closely with our Enterprise customers and outside partners to drive development and deployment of RAIN RFID solutions based on the Imping Platform. Our platform of tags, readers and gateways, and software is what allows us to give a digital identity to billions of everyday items. Responsibilities:

  • Leverage your experience to lead and manage the team in developing RAIN RFID solutions utilizing Imping's readers and gateways and Impinj's endpoint ICs enabled tags.
  • Collaborate with outside enterprise customers and partners in the development, testing, and deployment of Impinj's RAIN RFID solutions leveraging the entire Impinj platform.
  • Manage field trials and proof-of-concepts leading to large scale RAIN RFID deployments at the sites of our enterprise customers.
  • Lead the pioneering of new RAIN RFID applications that help customers solve real world problems across different use cases and industries.
  • Partner with the Software, Hardware and System Engineering teams to design and test cutting edge RAIN RFID reader and gateway devices in support of the development of the enterprise RAIN RFID solutions.
  • Inspire and drive the development of the employees on the platform team. Provide hands-on and strategic mentorship to innovate and align work to customer needs.
  • Leverage the insights derived from data coming from enterprise customer deployments to assess and improve system performance and build system behavior models.
  • Comfortable with a hybrid and onsite Seattle based working environment; with a few days of the week spent at our Impinj Beacon Hill Lab and a couple days spent at the main office in SLU, or remote.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Communications Systems Engineering, or similar with a minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience (MSEE preferred) including at least 10 years in functional management.
  • Experience in leading and managing Engineering teams and collaborating across the organization with cross functional development teams.
  • Experience in RAIN RFID technology at the Hardware and Firmware/Software level.
  • Previous experience in planning, staging and conducting technology proof-of-concept trials and large-scale deployments at enterprise customer's sites.
  • Fluent in Communication Theory, Signal Processing, and Statistics.
  • Strong background for growing an organization in size and performance.
  • Knowledge of RF system design (e.g., link budgets, NF, Gain, IIP2, IIP3).
  • Knowledge in algorithms, data analytics and data visualization tools.
  • Proficiency in programming using Matlab, Python, or C/C++
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences and be able to adjust your communication style accordingly.
  • Comfortable working in an Agile development process.

Compensation and Benefits:

The benefits listed below may vary depending on the nature of your employment with Impinj and the country where you work.

The typical base pay range for this role across the US is $168,000 to $267,000. Individual base pay depends on various factors such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties, requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Both market wage data and the mid-point of the pay range is reviewed and used as the starting point for all new hire offers. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.

At Impinj certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.
