JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Director, Internal Audit will be a key advisor providing input into the strategic direction of the Internal Audit Department. The incumbent will lead the development and oversight of the Internal Audit department’s risk-based work plan. Responsibilities will include oversight of the execution of the dynamic work plan through continuous monitoring and evolution of the plan to ensure consideration of changes needed through the identification of items such as; emerging risks, organizational changes, new processes, and technology.
The Senior Director, Internal Audit is expected to foster strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders including management and external auditors.
The Senior Director, Internal Audit will lead, motivate, and develop audit team members and promote a culture of feedback and growth, inspiring the team to elevate themselves and the Internal Audit function.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as a key advisor to the VP of Internal Audit regarding risks, controls, and industry best practice.
- Develop and execute the Internal Audit work plan using appropriate risk-based methodology, incorporating risks or control concerns identified by management or the Audit & Risk Committee.
- Oversee continuous risk monitoring to ensure the audit plan is dynamic and considers emerging risks and the changing business landscape.
- Establish a strong partnership with key members of management, regulators, and our external auditors to drive actions for improvement across the organization. Investigate and determine the root cause of findings; recommend appropriate actions to resolve findings with a focus on adding value to the business operations.
- Develop and execute strategic reviews identified during the work plan’s risk-based analysis.
- Review and summarize vendor reports/data on their evaluation of investment manager’s operations. Review and escalate investment manager alerts identified by an outside vendor to senior management.
- Manage the execution of process and transaction reviews to verify compliance with established plan rules and internal policies / procedures.
- Oversee reviews of local YMCAs to ensure compliance with the rules and regulations that govern the Retirement program.
- Develop the audit and business skills of staff to inspire engagement, drive risk identification and help develop risk-based audit approaches responsive to emerging risk and innovative technology.
- Assist in the execution of the annual external audits and other regulatory examinations.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations to the Audit & Risk Committee.
- May assist or be assigned special projects, or duties as assigned by the VP of Internal Audit.
POSITION MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related area
Experience:
- 8+ years of relevant experience in accounting or auditing
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor required
- Knowledge of risk assessment including evaluating and designing controls, conducting impact assessments, identifying gaps and recommendations to remediate risks
- Adept at working with people having different functional expertise respectfully and cooperatively to work toward a common goal
- Adept at managing project plans, resources, and people to ensure successful project completion
- Proficient written and oral communication skills, particularly the ability to deliver complex technical information to diverse audiences in a meaningful way
- Experience working at a financial institution
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $140,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
