Description:

The Senior Associate Director, Campus Access is responsible for supporting the mission and goals of the Campus Access & Security Systems office. Responsibilities for this position include system administration, application support, management oversight, and maintenance support for hardware repairs, installations, and preventative maintenance programs. This also includes performing research and development for system hardware and software associated with the Lenel OnGuard system. Responsibilities also include assisting with daily office operations, and departmental new goals and initiatives. This position also includes managing the successful maintenance and operation of all access control readers, and other related hardware and software for the Lenel system, along with other systems associated with ID card production/mobile credentialing related systems. The Senior Associate Director is expected to liaison and maintain productive working relationships with Plant and Information Technology departments.
The ideal candidate will be technically skilled and have knowledge of network and computer hardware/software. The candidate should have knowledge of circuitry and circuit boards and ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams. The candidate should have working experience/knowledge of system maintenance and repair for access control/ID card operations, IT related and technical systems. The Senior Associate Director should have working knowledge with inventory control, budgeting, general bookkeeping, and work order processing. The Senior Associate Director should be an independent worker, self-starter, and a team player that works well in a collaborative environment. The successful candidate will be a committed and experienced professional with a collaborative disposition, ability to think critically and creatively, excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with a strong customer service orientation towards students, staff, and faculty.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage, maintain, and operate Campus Access & Security Systems technical systems. This Includes the Lenel On-Guard system (software), HID card readers, Lenel controllers, panels, and related equipment (hardware).
  • Serve as the system administrator for Lenel and all other software applications (mobile technology) owned and operated by Hofstra Card Services.
  • Manage inventory of all hardware associated with the Lenel OnGuard System. This includes readers, ID card printers, controllers, power supplies, surge protectors, UPS, etc.
  • Upgrade and manage software updates on Lenel, T-MON computers, and mobile technologies.
  • Manage compliance to preventative maintenance programs for card readers, lockdown equipment, and TMON system software.
  • Manage processes associated with the installation/repair of card readers, controllers, panels, ID card printers and Lenel workstations. This includes performing repairs and installations as needed.
  • Manage and process requests for Lenel reports (including Ad Hoc reporting) as needed by HCS, Student Affairs Management, Public Safety, or the Office of Residential Programs.
  • Co-managing and performing bi-annual audit of access to the Lenel System.
  • Coordinate vendor return merchandise authorizations (RMA’s).
  • Familiarity with standard office software, photo editing software, and office equipment pertaining to the production of ID cards.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be flexible with the ability to adapt well to change and manage risk and uncertainty with poise.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Successful candidates will be self-motivated, exercise good judgment, and take initiative.
  • Possess ethical decision-making skills, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
  • Serve in the on-call rotation for evening/weekend/holiday emergencies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Campus Access & Security Systems.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field required.
  • 3-5 years’ experience with low voltage/access control/alarms/CCTV.
  • 2-3 years’ experience with Lenel OnGuard, certification preferred.
  • 2-3 years’ experience working with access control ID Card Production Systems.
  • Familiarity with standard office software, photo editing software, and office equipment pertaining to the production of ID cards.
  • Must possess good oral and written communications skills.
  • Possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with Atrium is preferred.
