The Role:
The Senior Director of Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting is responsible forensuring regulatory compliance with the SEC's reporting requirements, adherence to SOX 404 requirements and newly emerging regulatory requirements from the FASB or SEC, maintaining the integrity and accuracy of Company's SEC filings, oversight of the preparation of the consolidated external financial statements, spearheading Technical Accounting matters. They will additionally provide oversight, guidance and coaching to develop a team of talented reporting members. Managing the SEC reporting process includes, but not limited to: 10-K, 10-Q, S-8, 8-K, Proxy and Section 16 filings, etc.
This is a hybrid role based out of one of our offices in San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY
Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of Financial Reporting including preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, analysis, and disclosures that meet SEC standards (10Qs, 10Ks, Proxy) as well as support internal management reporting needs
- Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Legal and the Accounting team to drive continuous improvements in business analysis, systems, processes and controls that will enable public company financial integrity and accuracy
- Manage, lead, mentor and provide guidance to small but mighty team of reporting professionals
- Identify, research, and document Technical Accounting matters and provide operational accounting support for complex areas such as equity, share-based compensation, capitalized software development, revenue recognition, goodwill and intangibles, etc.
- Oversee coordination of annual audit and quarterly reviews; proactively address non-standard or Technical Accounting issues with auditors to ensure timely resolution
- Draft, update and maintain the Company's accounting policies, educate the broader accounting team and Company leaders on application of policies and drive the implementation of any changes in policies or adoption of new US GAAP standards
Required Qualifications:
- Licensed and active CPA with 10+ years of relevant accounting experience
- Experience owning external Financial Reporting function at public company OR 8+ years of Advisory and/or Audit experience at Big 4 (or similar organization)
- Strong knowledge of SOX compliance, requirements, and controls specifically for Financial Reporting
- Expertise in US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements with an ability to research and interpret Technical Accounting guidance
- Demonstrated experience leading, managing, and developing a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to obtain all relevant facts, understand business requirements, articulate accounting requirements and communicate conclusions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Leading external reporting for a public company
- Experience working in Audit or Advisory at Big 4
- Reporting for Fintech and/or financial services organization
- Workiva and NetSuite experience or similar systems
- Private market experience
For residents of San Francisco/Bay Area, CA or New York, NY the annual salary range for this role is $210,000 - $230,000 + bonus & equity. Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on geography, candidate experience and expertise, bonus, and other factors.
