Senior Design Engineer - Mep Construction

 

 

Position Summary:

Manages all aspects of a project's design with project management, architects, and other trades through the completion phase of a large project or multiple small projects.

 

What you'll do as Senior Design Engineer:

 

• Supervises or directs the workflow of less-experienced engineers in performing HVAC or other system design and documents production of small and large projects
• Provides conceptual design for specific projects
• Serves as a design professional at project team design meetings
• Prepares complex preliminary redline design layouts for estimating
• Performs more complex calculations for a project, such as heating/cooling loads, equipment selection and sizing, friction loss calculations, etc.
• Performs site inspections to determine compliance with construction documents and resolves design issues during construction phase
• May supervise other engineers and/or technicians on a project basis.

 

What you'll need to be successful:

 

• Excellent knowledge of applicable systems design, such as HVAC, plumbing, etc., as well as a general understanding of system operations.
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with all levels of employees, clients and general contractors
• Strong public speaking skills
• Strong computer skills, including CADD and Microsoft Office Products, such as Excel
• Independently performs assignments with instruction only 
• Collaborates and consults with a supervisor or other peers concerning unusual problems and developments.

 

What you bring to the table:

 

• Four-year degree in Engineering or related field
• PE License required 
• 9-12 years proven design experience that matches the duties and behavior/leadership skills listed above

Pay:  Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For (California) this ranges from $97,000 - $130,000 plus annual incentive, benefits and retirement program as outlined above.
