Senior Database Developer (Financial/Investment Experience)

• 3 month contract to hire role for a Senior Database Developer with experience in the investment/financial industry.
• Client work authorization requirements: US Citizen or GC holder
• Hybrid work environment: onsite in the Minneapolis area 3 days/week. Client is requiring candidates that are local to the Twin Cities.

THE ROLE: Highly skilled and experienced Investment Technology Database Developer to join a dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting the front, middle, and back office investment teams by driving technology data system improvements, process enhancements, and project implementations. Your responsibilities will include translating user requirements, modifying databases, and ensuring the stability and reliability of our data systems. The successful candidate will have a strong background in finance or investment systems, extensive project management experience, and proficiency in SQL and Azure Cloud DB.

1. Translate User Requirements

   • Work closely with investment teams to understand their data and technology needs.
   • Translate user requirements into actionable features and improvements.

2. Modify Databases and Perform Tests

   • Respond to requests for database modifications.
   • Conduct thorough tests to ensure the effectiveness and reliability of the modifications.

3. Develop Stable and Reliable Databases

   • Utilize your expertise in SQL and Azure Cloud DB to develop and maintain stable, reliable, and effective databases.
   • Ensure that all database programs meet company and performance requirements.

4. Research and Solve Database Issues

   • Investigate and resolve database usage issues and malfunctions.
   • Stay informed about new database products, services, and protocols and make recommendations for improvements.

Experience and Education:

• 7+ years of experience required, with a focus on finance or investment systems knowledge.
• Proven experience in managing large-scale projects.
• Strong proficiency in SQL; knowledge of Azure Cloud DB and programming expertise.
• Bachelor's degree required in Finance, Business Administration, MIS/Programming, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 8-10 years of experience preferred, with technical experience or support of PAM investment accounting system, Black Rock Aladdin, and Bloomberg.
• Advanced degree preferred.
• Licensing/Certification/Other: CFA and/or relevant technical certifications preferred.
