Description
General Purpose:
The Sr. Database Developer is responsible for analyzing, designing, testing, implementing, and maintaining database code to develop, enhance, and support Medical Group Management Associations (MGMAs) databases.
Essential Functions:
  • Works on projects that will involve writing and testing database tables, views, functions, and stored procedures using advanced T-SQL programming, developing ETL processes using SSIS and other 3rd party tools, analyzing, writing, and testing ad-hoc data integrity scripts.
  • Monitors, analyzes, and refines databases to ensure the proper performance.
  • Leads continued expansion of MGMAs data warehouse, including integrations and automation of additional data sources.
  • Develops and maintains a data lake, data warehouse, and data marts.
  • Implements data management and data cleansing processes to improve the quality of data.
  • Ensures the accuracy and integrity of data and applications through detailed system analysis, efficient coding and prompt identification, and resolution of problems as they arise.
  • Creates and modifies database objects such as tables, views, functions, stored procedures, and triggers.
  • Creates and modifies SSIS packages and Azure Data Factory Pipelines.
  • Performs code migration, database change management, and data management through the various stages of the development life cycle.
  • Assists in implementing data strategy and helping to construct, deliver, and maintain reporting data architecture.
  • Reviews new applications for their integration ability and maps data appropriately, specifically around reporting.
  • Facilitates data design and management for effective analytics.
  • Aids in complex reporting and analysis of the Associations data, using a combination of the data warehouse and reporting tools.
  • Mentorship of members of the Association for data consistency, understanding, and professional growth for staff whose position requires direct data interaction.
  • Assists to create and maintain long-term data roadmap for the Association, including support of data collection and product development growth.
  • Other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of the organization.

Qualifications
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Ability to consistently promote, support, work, and act in a manner in support of MGMAs mission, vision and values.
  • Ability to write code to customize or create new integration programs needed to facilitate data architecture and ETL from disparate data sources.
  • Ability to define areas of improvement, communicate issues with the project team and develop solutions that meet project objectives.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to partner with business stakeholders and ensure a thorough understanding of requirements in order to evaluate, design and maintain database and reporting assets.
  • Knowledgeable in multiple BI platforms while working to implement vendor solutions and assist in mentoring others on data across the Association.
  • Ability to learn and deploy new database structures quickly.
  • Ability to develop technical specification documentation.
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong quantitative skills.
  • Ability to hit the ground running immediately and provide results with minimal direction.
  • Must be results oriented and a motivated self-starter with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Team player who can establish excellent working relationships with peers and other teams

Education:
  • A Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field is required.

Experience:
  • Five (5) of more years of proven ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries, procedures, and functions in SQL Server 2012+ database environments are required.
  • Experience developing, integrating, and deploying solutions utilizing Team Foundation Server and SQL Server Data Tools (SSIS & SSRS) within Visual Studio is required.
  • One (1) or more years of Microsoft Azure experience is required
  • Experience with MS-Dynamics CRM development, Azure, and Kingsway Soft is preferred.
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory or Azure Synapse is preferred.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:
  • Must have reliable transportation.

  • This is a largely sedentary role, so employee must be able to remain in a sedentary position while focusing for extended periods of time throughout the workday. Position also requires occasional movement inside the office to access file cabinets, printers, etc. While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to successfully navigate scenarios requiring the following operational abilities:
  • Ability to operate PC/keyboard and other office productivity equipment
  • Ability to position self to traverse/navigate around typical office setting

Ability pull/push, lift, open/close, grasp/manipulate, transport up to 10 lbs.
