Job description

Are you passionate about applying your knowledge of statistics, machine learning, and data analytics to help deliver new software innovation that delights our customers and increases the satisfaction of the engineers who write the code? If so, come join the Engineering Systems 365 (ES365) team in the Office Product Group (OPG)! Our systems are key to ensuring that code changes move quickly and efficiently from inception to release with provable high quality, at scale, across multiple endpoints, platforms, and device form factors – all while doing so securely and managing costs responsibly.

The team is looking for a SeniorData Scientist with a proven track record of understanding complex business problems and using industry-leading analytical techniques to find insights that transform our business and customer experiences. A well-qualified candidate possesses the drive and persistence needed to tackle complex business problems and create scalable, impactful insights from diverse data sets. The candidate should be experienced working with leadership to identify business or engineering problems, translate them to Data Science problems, conduct the appropriate analysis & modeling to reveal actionable insights, and then communicate the impact to the leadership team to drive change.

This is a high visibility role with focus on big transformations and large gains. Engineers, product managers, applied researchers and other disciplines in E+D and across Microsoft will be customers of your work. You’ll have the OPG Leadership Team heavily invested in your success and impact. You will build connections with other Engineering Systems teams across Microsoft, and together you will work to identify, define, and adopt best practices from within the company and the industry.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

  • Work with coworkers, partners and customers to define data needs, research questions, analysis plans, and deliverable timelines
  • Translate complex technical findings into succinct, actionable business insights, often in coordination with partners who help you tell a holistic story
