The Senior Data Scientist, with expertise in machine learning, will work within the Enterprise Analytics and Data Science team to lead the development of advanced analytics models and algorithms. This includes analyses to optimize products and processes as well as test the effectiveness of different courses of action.This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for leveraging company data, driving innovation and improvements in product development, customer experience, and operational efficiency.

 

Candidates must be able to report into one of the following NYBCe locations:

New York City, NY; Kansas City, Missouri; St. Paul, Minnesota; Providence , RI and Newark, DE.

 

  • Designing and implementing machine learning models.
  • Conducting data exploration and preprocessing.
  • Analyzing large datasets to identify trends and insights.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and opportunities.
  • Developing data-driven solutions to address complex business challenges.
  • Evaluating model performance and iterating to improve results.
  • Presenting findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Keeping abreast of latest AI/ML technologies and methodologies.
  • Guiding and mentoring junior Data Scientists and analysts.
  • Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions.
  • Tackle complex and ambiguous analysis projects: provide clarity and leverage tools to answer complicated business questions.
  • Use a variety of modeling techniques to increase and optimize donor, customer, and employee experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting, and other business outcomes.
  • Ensure data quality and data hygiene across enterprise reporting platforms focusing on consistent, timely, and accurate data. Run regular tests and discrepancy checks to ensure continuity, accuracy, and quality of data.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related area

 

Related Experience

5+ years of industry experience in data science, machine learning and or statistics.

 

At least 3+ years of hands-on experience with Python and or R for statistical data analysis and machine learning is required.

 

Experience with Python libraries (Scikit-Learn, Matplotlib, Seaborn, ggplot…) is required.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Education:  Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or another quantitative field

 

Experience: 3-5 years of experience experience in implementing algorithms and models.

 

A deep understanding of theoretical and practical aspects of machine learning and AI.

 

Knowledge

  • Proficient in using programming languages (e.g., R, Python, SQL) for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis from large datasets.
  • Familiarity with statistical and data mining techniques, including but not limited to Generalized Linear Models (GLM)/Regression, Random Forests, Boosting techniques, Trees, text mining, and social network analysis.
  • Experience with data analysis from third-party sources such as Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, etc.
  • Understanding of various machine learning algorithms, including clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc., along with their practical applications and limitations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of advanced statistical concepts and techniques, including regression analysis, distribution properties, statistical testing, and their appropriate applications.

For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $125,000.00 p/yr to $135,000.00 p/yr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant’s skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
