Job description

Overview

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will work with the team to build complex data pipelines using a new cutting-edge Data Ingestion Platform as well as several new and exciting products in the Big Data/Advanced Analytics space. You will operate in a fast-paced environment where multiple project deliverables are coordinated within specified deadlines. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver accurate and timely data across various products to enable revenue for the company. The ideal candidate will have data analysis and data pipeline development experience using big data tools (like Spark, Scala, Hive), relational databases, intermediate SQL skills. Healthcare knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble large, complex sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements.
  • Identify, design and implement internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes.
  • Build required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources using AWS and SQL technologies.
  • Build analytical tools to utilize the data pipeline, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics including operational efficiency and customer acquisition.
  • Work with stakeholders including data, design, product and executive teams and assisting them with data-related technical issues.
  • Work with the Business and Product owners to determine business requirements.
  • Works with the development team to develop and define the scope and objectives of the BI requirements.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills in driving team to achieve high vlue business priorities.
  • Communicate effectively (oral and written) and in a timely and accurate manner, keeping management abreast of potential issues that could derail priority objectives.  Risk mitigiation plans are proposed and demonstrate intellectual control over the subject matter.
  • Delegate effectively and use delagation to promote growth/maturity of junior personnel.
  • Analyze and evaluate detailed business and technical requirements and comes up with a high-level design and solution which leverages reuse and is generic in nature, avoiding client specific solitions.
  • Design creative solutions to automate extraction and migration of data from different source systems into the BI environment using SSIS and MS SQL Server 2019.
  • Review the database needs and develop strategies and programs to manage any forthcoming issues.
  • Perform support work as needed.  For issues that are recurring in nature, assesses low-risk options and promotes/sponsors alternatives that will help in reducing/eliminating reoccurence of such issues.   
  • Research and learn new technological capabilities to drive our offerings forward.
  • Work as a SME and mentor to Business Intelligence Developers on Data warehouse/ Data Vault and Analytics team.
  • Document and maintain the design and architecture components of the BI applications.
  • Define and implemens coding standards and best practices for BI development.
  • Mentor others on coding standards and performs code reviews.
  • Anticipate opportunities for improvement and identifies alternate solutions.
  • Develop and perform system/integration testing and fixes defects identified during the testing.
  • Aid in the integration activities with other BI teams for successful implementation and support of products.
  • Support Infrastructure team to maintain the technical BI development environment and provides inputs to the implementation plan.
  • Assist in developing training documentation, including proactive identification of additional needs and enhancements.
  • Complete all responsibilities as outlined in the annual Performance Plan.
  • Complete all special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Self-starter who can take initiatives, flexible, and has worked under tight timelines to deliver.
  • Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other Bachelor's degree demonstrating technical expertise.
  • 7-8 Years of experience in IT field with strong understanding of development life cycle and development practices.
  • 5-6 year working experience in TSQL with SQL Server.
  • Proficient in writing advanced optimized TSQL query and tuning the existing code.
  • 3-4 years of working experience in SSIS using SQL Server.
  • Experience in working with data warehouse designing and it's architecture.
  • Experience in working on reporting tools, SSRS, Tableau.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills are a must.
  • Experience working with a large volume of data in a Healthcare environment.

 

Base compensation ranges from $90,000 to $125,000. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.
