Position Summary
The Sr. Data Analyst plays a major role in product and business development by designing innovative analytical solutions that enable informed and strategic health care decision making. The Sr. Data Analyst will be responsible for providing analytics and creating fact-based economic models that support product development and consulting engagements. A successful candidate will possess a strong knowledge of the healthcare industry and be able to apply this knowledge to large-scale data analyses to generate actionable insights that drive value to our customers.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop complex analyses using unique or disparate data sources and manipulating large amounts of structured and unstructured data.
- Design and implement highly visible, complex, and innovative analytical solutions that drive business decision making.
- Extract insightful and actionable findings and relay them effectively with supporting data-driven calls to action.
- Maintain market intelligence to ensure analysis relevance and marketability by maintaining knowledge with key competitors, client needs and challenges, and industry trends.
- Work independently to layout and test clear hypotheses; solve ambiguous problems without well-defined direction.
- Develop data visualizations, including reports, dashboards, and analyses to distribute data insights in an easily digestible manner to all relevant stakeholders.
- Actively resolve day-to-day functional needs of the business unit with a focus on the analysis of processes – dissecting problems and suggesting solutions, including complex systems process analysis
- Work closely with product support to troubleshoot questions/issues that arise from customers, prioritize and communicate tasks to address issues.
- Proactively identify and facilitate problem solving including identification of the source of the problem, accurate recommendation of appropriate solutions, and communication of alternative arrangements, if appropriate. Provide escalation to management in a timely manner when appropriate.
- Ability to prioritize among multiple tasks and self-manage.
Experience
- 4+ years’ experience with data or business analysis, healthcare analytics or health care informatics
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business or analytics
- Demonstrated knowledge of Python for analyzing and manipulating large datasets
- Demonstrated experience with data visualization tools (Tableau preferred)
- Demonstrated experience producing user-ready internal and external written communications, e.g. Word, PowerPoint
- Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare analytics and medical claims data
- Strong familiarity with fundamental financial, performance, and quality measures used in healthcare payer industry.
- Understanding issues related to data analysis in healthcare payer industry, and knowledge of industry standard methodologies a plus.
- Demonstrated knowledge of SQL
- Strong coordination, analytical and communication skills
- Ability to derive insight and infer business implications from data.
- Able to work independently yet collaborate cross-functionally in a team environment.
- Desire to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing, emerging technology environment.
- Strong understanding of healthcare analytics and ability to identify interdependencies and suggest plans to integrate new and existing processes.
