Job Description
The Senior Cost Accountant helps to ensure the financial positions of Lange companies are correctly reported by recording and analyzing project costs and margins, ensuring revenues and costs are recorded per GAAP, and reconciling accounts timely. In this role, you will support management decision making by providing analysis and insights and producing periodic financial and managerial reports. The Senior Cost Accountant helps safeguard company resources by maintaining an adequate system of records and controls and working in a safe and productive manner. Will work independently with minimal supervision to solve complex tasks.
Responsibilities- Support business leadership by preparing and communicating financial analytics including product revenues and costs, labor efficiency and capacity, and overhead tracking
- Drive inventory accuracy by monitoring BOM accuracy, inventory levels and turn targets, inventory obsolescence, and assists in reducing scrap and waste
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare and record journal entries documenting business transactions
- Closes work tickets timely and ensures costs are properly recorded
- Prepares journal entries, reconciliations, and other supporting documents, including reviewing, investigating, reporting and correcting errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, in conformance with GAAP
- Manages Company risk by assisting in review of sales proposals and customer purchase orders to ensure alignment with Company standards
- Supports audit and tax requests
- Cross trained as backup for other roles
- 4-year degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3+ years accounting experience
- Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers
- Experience with ERP Systems
- Proficient in MS Office with advanced skills in Excel
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- 2+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing setting
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) license
- Experience compiling and analyzing large sets of data
- Experience with financial analysis and reporting
- Experience with Sage 100, Microsoft Access, Power BI
