Job Description
Oilfield Service Company in Waller has an immediate need for a Cost Accountant who will be responsible for the ongoing analysis of tracing inventory costs back to underlying activities, margin analysis, and process constraints. This position will construct and monitor cost-effective data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of costing information to management. General ledger responsibilities include creating journal entries and assembling supporting documentation, as well as tracking the contents of accounts, and creating portions of the financial statements. Looking for someone inquisitive, a “problem solver”.
Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of cost accounting methods
- Apply ideal cost accounting methods to our company
- Construct data accumulation systems for a cost accounting system
- Contribute to and ensure the accuracy of accounting data, transactions, and reports
- Review job orders for inaccuracies
- Resolve inventory quantity and cost issues
- Review and resolve inventory variances
- Review work in process for inaccuracies
- Monitor unit cost variances
- Analyze inventory valuations
- Validate the cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close
- Perform quantity and cost adjustments to inventory
- Create and review the controls needed for data accumulation and reporting systems
- Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts
- Investigate cycle counting variances and resolve issues
- Prepare and report on inventory related transactions
- Report on margins by product line
- Perform reconciliations of all inventory related accounts
- Record all inventory related journal entries
- Provide external auditors with applicable schedules
- Assist in the production of financial statements
- Prior experience with E2 or ECI JobBoss a plus, not required
Education:
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university with a focus on accounting.
- Two to five years minimum related experience and/or training.
