REMOTE opportunity within the U.S.
Serves as the Corporate Claims primary authority on quality case management for AF Group’s property and casualty claims operations. Designs and implements claim management structure and processes for AF Group to create and maintain consistency across claim operations, and serves as a technical expert in claim management, including large loss and catastrophic case management, reserving and best practices. Also serves as an advanced technical expert, applying advanced claim management principles. Provides leadership, coaching and mentoring to colleagues.
- Serves as advanced technical expert and consultant and collaborates with brands on large losses including, but not limited to, catastrophic cases. Participates and collaborates with the Corporate Claims Catastrophic Case Management Team and brands in large loss management and reserving.
- Establishes reserve and settlement authorities and ensures reserve, authority, and Standards and Practices compliance. Fosters alignment between enterprise standards and brand implementation.
- Facilitates and completes claims audits required to ensure compliance with Standards and Practices and applicable laws and regulations. Works with quality assessment resources to update quality assessment processes to ensure consistency with best practices and workflows. Provides tie-in to established corporate results.
- Serves as claim resource providing active oversight, management, and direction over TPA’s for due diligence, large loss claim oversight, reinsurances, and continuous audit of property & casualty business being generated outside of the organizations’ core workers compensation, which may include, fronting, assigned risk, and commercial auto. Communicates with reinsurers and other stakeholders as needed.
- Analyzes, researches, and reports on claim and industry trends, issues, case law, rules, regulations and best practices. Provides claims and jurisdictional specific knowledge to corporate government affairs department regarding pending legislation and regulation as warranted.
- Conducts operation reviews on a periodic and as needed basis. Outlines improvement opportunities and coaches management team on ways to improve technical performance.
- Collaborates with compliance department for required state audits, inquiries, penalty and complaint responses, and implementation of regulatory and statutory changes. Monitors, advises, and communicates regarding bad faith, third party and employer liability cases/issues in collaboration with legal team.
- Responds to special or specific projects, audits, training, and/or research requests.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Relevant combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Continuous learning, as defined by the Company’s learning philosophy, is required. Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged. Masters or advanced level degree preferred.
- Minimum ten years’ experience in a property casualty claims environment with demonstrated technical knowledge that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. Three years of demonstrated leadership experience in claim management. Multi-jurisdiction and multi-line experience highly preferred. Bilingual skills preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of property casualty claims management process.
- Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating and determining the appropriateness of various actions within the process of property casualty claims management.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret policy documents, technical, legal, financial information, and procedure manuals.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical skills to identify improvement needs and develop solutions.
- Ability to interact with all levels of internal staff and management, including executive team, and effectively exchange information clearly and concisely, present ideas, report facts and other information and respond to questions as appropriate.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to negotiate while creating and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with working partners.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet necessary deadlines with minimal direction.
- Ability to perform necessary mathematical computations.
- Ability and proficiency in the use of computers and company standard software specific to position.
- Ability to make competent, independent decisions.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards. Travel may be required.

Pay Range
“Actual compensation decision relies on the consideration of internal equity, candidate’s skills and professional experience, geographic location, market and other potential factors. It is not standard practice for an offer to be at or near the top of the range, and therefore a reasonable estimate for this role is between $102,400 and $171,500.”
