Role Summary
Sherwood is currently seeking a Senior CAD Technician/Drafter to support our growing, progressive and multidisciplinary engineering firm. The successful candidate will work as an integral part of Sherwood’s global team, collaborating with engineering and operations disciplines to cocreate solutions to a variety of organizational challenges. This candidate will understand how to create base files, 3D models, sections, profiles, grading, utility designs and plotting layouts. They will read and interpret technical architectural and civil design drawings, and utilize computer software to complete assignments. They will also be asked to mentor junior staff in developing our CAD capabilities as a firm.
This position is hybrid, and requires a minimum of 3 days in office. Travel to and from other offices may be required and is compensable time. This position is exempt from overtime.
Minimum Skills
Typically 10+ years of experience in Autodesk Civil 3D
Typically 3+ years of managerial experience (or equivalent experience through demonstrated mentorship and management of people-oriented programs)
Typically 3+ years of program management experience (CAD Standards, Knowledge Management)
Expert knowledge of Windows, MS Office, and Google Apps
Demonstrated ability identifying, diagnosing and solving complex problems
Strong ability to accurately estimate task durations and manage multiple assignments
Extensive knowledge of industry information and current with industry standards
Growth-mindset and human-centered leadership skills
Advanced customer service skills and the ability to influence others
Preferred Skills
15+ years of experience in Autodesk Civil 3D
Experience with Autodesk Land Desktop Development, Map 3D, Raster Design, Civil Design, Survey, etc. (Intermediate)
Expected Outcomes
Work directly with various project teams focused on infrastructure and site improvements
Create/revise existing drawings in accordance with company established
procedures, practices, and standards
Interpret architectural and engineering notes, written instructions, and detailed sketches, to prepare clear and detailed drawings
Develop, implement, and enforce AutoCAD Regular and Civil 3D Standards in the CAD Procedure Manual including user support and process development
Evaluate CAD software for adoption of new features or extensions
Release productivity enhancements and customizations for CAD software
Provide ongoing training for in-house CAD users
Provide production CAD support and troubleshooting
Maintain CAD Software inventory
Incorporate existing technologies (i.e. collaboration tools, remote access, etc.)
Maintain and update file translation methods between CAD platforms and client systems
Maintain timely review of industry periodicals, CAD expos, seminars, and tradeshows
Occasional travel to other offices in the U.S.

Compensation:
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Sherwood Design Engineers, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $118,192 to $131,324. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
