We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Buyer to join our Purchasing Department. Summary:The Senior Buyer will be responsible for evaluating vendor performance, creating and maintaining purchase orders, and ensuring timely delivery of goods. This role requires a seasoned professional with a keen eye for cost-saving opportunities, international shipping and purchasing experience, and the ability to analyze industry trends.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and ensure vendor performance meets defined standards.
- Create and maintain purchase orders in the ERP system.
- Expedite product to ensure on-time delivery.
- Efficiently source goods globally, meeting design and quality requirements.
- Analyze industry trends to identify and mitigate supply base issues.
- Evaluate supplier competencies and competitive positioning using industry cost models.
- Identify cost reduction opportunities.
- Select and source incoming freight for domestic and international shipments.
- Disposition non-conforming purchased material.
- Handle miscellaneous supply purchases.
- Act as a backup for Master Scheduler duties.
- Identify and submit Continuous Improvement requests.
- Manage intra-company purchases.
- Participate in company-provided training and work groups.
- Perform other related activities as assigned by Management.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of purchasing experience in a make-to-order manufacturing environment.
- International shipping and purchasing experience.
- Prior experience as a design or drafting engineer (beneficial, not required).
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred).
