Senior Buyer
Reporting the Supply Chain Manager, the Senior Buyer has comprehensive material management responsibilities and is expected to develop a mastery of the Axus Technology MRP system. As part of this role, you will research and analyze suppliers to determine the best possible solution for each scenario as it unfolds. In our team-based environment, you will work closely with other departments including Sales, Engineering, Production and Process Lab to meet the overall company goals and objectives. The Senior Buyer will have the opportunity to provide mentoring and leadership to others in the group including junior level buyers and material planners. Additional activities may include coordination of building facilities services and management of large domestic and international shipments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties may include but will not be limited to the following:
- Procurement of material to address shortages.
- Oversees and maintains inventory (excess, obsolete, ECO phase out/phase in)
- Work in conjunction with the operations team to issure material requirements are met to avoid any delay or downtime in production activity.
- Daily monitoring of orders for on-time delivery and expediting of past due orders.
- Analysis of supplier lead times, costs, transit times and production requirements
- Researches, analyzes, and forecasts current and future buying trends
- Negotiate stocking agreements contracts, favorable pricing, lead times and payment terms with new and existing suppliers
- Develop second source suppliers where applicable through research, benchmarking and RFQs
- Develops and maintains relationships and accountability with new & existing suppliers
- Performing assigned duties as directed with little or no supervision.
- Compliance with all company policies and procedures will be required to promote a safe and efficient work
Desired skill and Experience:
- Excellent organizational skills
- Minimum of 2-4 years of past experience as a Senior Buyer
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Advanced knowledge of inventory management within a structured MRP system
- Ability to multitask and have a positive attitude while embracing a highly dynamic, growth-driven environment
- Advanced skills in Excel
- Positive and effective interaction with other team members.
- Commitment to meet time sensitive objectives.
- Previous experience working in a complex assembly manufacturing environment is preferred.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree, Procurement, Supply Chain, or Project Management preferred.
- Min 4-6 years within Procurement / Supply Chain, preferably in a complex assembly manufacturing environment.
