Senior Battery Installer - Dallas, TX
The Lead DC Battery Installer applies diversified knowledge of the power electronics industry to complete start-up, testing, troubleshooting, operations and maintenance work of batteries and related critical power equipment.The Lead Installer will help lead a team of Battery Install Technicians with new installations, retrofits, and replacements. Will lead all logistical efforts in the region - reserving forklifts, trucking, reserving loading docks, schedules, and manpower. Will scope out / work with field techs in the field to coordinate projects at multiple locations. The Lead will be home based and dispatched to customer sites as required. Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of battery technicians to include professionaldevelopment, time tracking, and travel coordination
- Coordinate with Customer regarding project updates and scheduling along with acting asthe point-of-contact for support groups such as engineering, material assignment, etc.
- Commissioning, maintaining, and providing emergency support on power electronics at customers' sites within their respective regional coverage area
- Install, test, and perform pre-energization (mechanical) checks of DC power systems
- Performs commissioning focused design reviews, prepares commissioning test procedures and reports, coordinates and oversees on-site testing
- When not in field involved in preventive maintenance, emergency response, equipment start-up and/or field modification, candidate will occasionally train at the company's headquarters testing equipment or rebuilding older systems
- Add and/or removal of battery strings to include wet cells, VRLA and Lithium Ion
- Perform additions, removals, and modifications on working equipment and circuits
- Discuss technical support problems related to maintenance or operation of equipment.
- Candidate will participate and or lead in the development of Methods of Procedures (MOPs)and job closeout paperwork
- Consults with supervisor concerning unusual problems and developments
- Candidate will be home based
- Participate in all internal and external quality audits, both in-process and final
- Installation of auxiliary framing, cable rack and otherequipment as required
- Perform basic electrical work such as Control wiring, DC fundamentals with Voltages of 560 VDC and below
- On-site analysis of job drawings and specifications to resolve any issues prior to job start
- Review the work assignments & project steps (MOP and job spec) before each work shift so all personnel, including contractors, are aware of their roles & responsibilities during the scheduled shift
- Maintain accurate project documentation (job logs), time reporting, expense reporting
- Perform all work in accordance with company and customer standards
Requirements:
- Knowledge of Battery technology such as VRLA, Wet Cells and Lithium
- Experience with Battery Monitoring systems a plus
- Experience in the Batteryfield and ability to troubleshooton equipment such as UPS, batteries, PDU's, a plus
- Experience with receiving and shipping of Batteries
- Previous Management experience a plus
- Utilizes hand tools and test equipment to perform work
- Requires excellent verbal, written communication skills & customer relation skills
- Must be able to provide high level of quality customer service
- Must be able to complete Field Service Reports within a timely manner
- Knowledge of equipment manufacturer's specifications a plus
- Ability to work independently and resourceful with good initiatives
- Must be able to perform repeated bending & lifting of up to 75lbs during certain procedures
- Must be able to provide necessary pro-active recommendations to clients
- Candidate must be willing to work nights & weekends when necessary
- Knowledge of general computer hardware & software applications
- Technical degree a plus
- Electronics training or work experience a plus
- OSHA or other Safety Training / Certifications a plus
- Previous experience in the Military / Military veterans in all branches that have experience with Electrical / Mechanical is a huge plus (Navy Nukes- EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army - Power Generation, Air Force - Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, Marines etc.)
- Strong verbal, written communications skills
