Open Associate Scientists positions in Autoimmunity and Oncology (Preclinical)
Simcere Pharmaceutical Group is building up its presence in North America with a newly formed drug discovery team in Cambridge, Massachusetts. We are seeking creative, energetic, and self-motivated Associate Scientists to join our preclinical team. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your scientific skills to conduct state of the art experiments meant to identify and validate unique and novel targets in the areas of autoimmunity, chronic inflammatory diseases and cancer using in vitro and in vivo humanized experimental models. This position involves laboratory experimental work that would impact the future pipeline of the company. It will provide you with the opportunity to collaborate with different teams at Simcere and be involved in drug development from early stages to IND submission.
Requirements:In this position you will be required to:
- Strong scientific background in execution, analysis, and troubleshooting of immunological functional assays.
- Perform multi-color flow cytometry experiments to analyze immune and/or cancer cells.
- Develop and optimize bioanalytical assays for the quantitative measurement of target proteins (ELISA, MSD).
- Conduct cell-based screenings of potential targets using various molecular biology techniques in selected disease indications.
- Design, conduct, analyze and present data with little supervision.
- Setup/develop and perform genomic, protein, and cell-based target validation assays to confirm discoveries and determine mechanisms of action.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance the company’s pipeline.
- Be informed of the scientific advancement in your area of expertise.
Qualifications and experience:
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in immunology, cellular biology, biochemistry, or a related field with at least 1-2 years of relevant experience.
- Strong scientific background in execution, analysis, and troubleshooting of immunological and cell-based assays.
- Accomplished in cell culture techniques including primary cells (such as human T and myeloid cells) and immortalized cell lines.
- Skilled in molecular biology techniques (cloning, transfection, transduction, qPCR, CRISPR, RNAi, RNA seq, and western blot) Trained on various cell-based assays such as flow cytometry, cell proliferation, and immune functional assays. Previous experience with cell-based imaging (such as immunofluorescence microscopy) is a plus.
- Experience working with mouse disease models is highly desired.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communicator and multitasker with strong record-keeping and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated, team- and goal-oriented scientist.
