Key Responsibilities:

The Sr Analyst - Galley Planning will develop and maintain galley plans, related reference materials, and guidelines that incorporate modifications to onboard experience concepts, menu planning, Inflight service flows, international restriction rules, and regulations. This role will design solutions for stowage of catering supplies that follow safety requirements for temperature control and FAA regulations for galley weight allowance. While aiming to reduce labor costs, improve sustainability and galley space utilization, promote efficiencies in the catering units and for Inflight crew personnel, which enhances the customer onboard experience.

  • Develop galley plans for new markets, routes, as well as menu and onboard service concepts. Work cross functionally with Menu Planning, Inflight Experience, Procurement, and Catering Operations. Interpret and integrate new concepts for menus, service items, and modifications to crew staffing levels and onboard service flows. Identify and create strategies and actions to address Galley Planning issues effectively.
  • Develop provisioning rates and perform scheduling data entry for beverage, equipment, and galley shipset in addition to handling the publication and communication of updates to caterers, Inflight teams, and other impacted groups.
  • Elaborate and implement AirVision packet structures and manipulate data to address new or improved requirements for processes and service elements.
  • Maintains supporting reference materials for shipsets, equipment, beverages specifications, and distribution of meals within galley inserts. Updates aircraft reference sheet to incorporate identification alpha numeric codes for new and reconfigured aircraft inductions.
  • Perform fit checking validation of catering supplies to ensure appropriateness of galley stowage designation.
  • Compute galley weight figures to inform data to United’s weight and balance team.

Note: This is a Chicago-based, hybrid role.

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Industrial Design, Business Administration or related field or 4 years of relevant work experience
  • 2+ years' experience in the airline industry
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams at all levels of the organization
  • Strong analytical skills, with attention-to-detail
  • Excellent communicator; verbal and written skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 Platform
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or a similar field in Hospitality, Catering/Food Services, or Airline Industry
  • 2+ years' experience in Catering Operations, Inflight, or related field
  • Knowledge of Inflight, catering operations, menu planning, and strategy preferred
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and general arrangements
