Role Summary
The Senior Assembly & Disassembly Technician will perform routine and non-routine support of day-to-day Tower Crane and Personnel Hoist operations to provide a safe and positive work environment. This position will be responsible for proper assembly, disassembly and mechanical/structural repair of tower crane and personnel hoists, professional customer interaction and accurate recordkeeping. In addition, this position will inspect team members' completed work to ensure safety, conduct four-week inspections and lead the team as needed. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core
ASSEMBLY & DISASSEMBLY FAMILY - CORE
  • Assembles, disassembles and conducts mechanical/structural repairs on tower cranes and personnel hoists as directed.
  • Conducts monthly equipment inspections and document findings as directed per the company process.
  • Communicates all equipment deficiencies to the crew lead immediately and suggests proper solutions consistent with the manufacturers' specifications and company policy.
  • Inspects all equipment prior to rental/placing in service to ensure quality, safety and equipment readiness
  • Maintains a clean, organized and secure workspace and service trucks, per company guidelines.
  • Documents accurately (on paper or digitally) completed maintenance, repairs and inspections on hoisting equipment per company processes.
  • Communicates in a timely manner with internal and external business partners by answering phone calls and responding to emails for maintenance related questions.
  • Conducts field repairs on hoisting equipment on sites as needed
  • Arranges the receiving, shipping and storing of hoisting parts as needed.
  • Participates in periodic cycle counts of hoisting parts and equipment to ensure accuracy of records.
  • Operates/drives vehicles and equipment in a safe and professional manner in line with company's safety policy.
  • Cleans and maintains warehouse facilities as directed.

Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core
SENIOR ASSEMBLY & DISASSEMBLY TECHNICIAN
In addition, this position will be responsible for the following:
  • Conducts four-week inspections independently on tower cranes and personnel hoists.
  • Leads other assembly & disassembly technicians as needed during tower crane and personnel hoist assembly/disassembly activities.
  • Inspects the work of other Assembly & Disassembly Technicians to ensure the quality and safety of the work performed by the team.
  • Conducts in-service inspections after the assembly/disassembly process or incidents and before job in-service of hoisting equipment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner
  • Communication skills, verbal and written - Intermediate
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Ability to perform necessary structural/mechanical work independently during the Assembly/Disassembly process of tower cranes or personnel hoists
  • Proficiency with all tower crane and hoisting equipment/parts and ability to independently repair any structural/mechanical issues
  • Ability to operate a forklift or other distribution equipment
  • Ability to identify common construction materials and equipment
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and technical manuals
  • Proficiency in diagnostic equipment and troubleshooting activities
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, both internally and externally

Education
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent (Required)
  • Vocational school degree with welding/structural repair emphasis (Preferred)
  • In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.

Experience
  • 5+ years tower crane or personnel hoist assembly/disassembly experience (Preferred)

Working Environment
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • May require periods of overnight travel
  • May be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold)
  • Must be comfortable working at projected heights
  • Frequent Activity: Standing, Walking, Lifting, Climbing, Bending, Reaching above Shoulder, Pushing, Pulling, Sitting
  • Occasional activity: Viewing Computer Screen
