Summary
As a key member of the Finance team, your main objective as an Sr. Accounts Payable Cost Containment Representative is to evaluate medical claims (provider invoices) for accuracy, completeness and appropriate support and data entry to processing systems. It is a key function of this position to conduct complex claims research and send comprehensive reports to supervisors, Finance team members, and the customers in some cases. This position reports to the Sr. Accounts Payable Cost Containment Supervisor. This is a remote position (Monday –Friday). You must provide high speed internet and a quiet, suitable workspace at your home.
Responsibilities job duties
1. Evaluate provider invoices for accuracy, completeness and appropriate support and data
entry. Determine allowable reimbursements limits based on plan specifications
2. Perform complex research utilizing company’s case and claims data to respond inquiries
regarding claim status. Analyze and interpret new or revised requirements or programs
to determine impact upon existing procedures
3. Prioritize tasks effectively and report issues to supervisor immediately.
4. Provide interoffice support to other departments as needed
5. Handle protected health information and personal information in a manner consistent
with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and General Data
Protection Regulation (GDPR)
6. Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
1. High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
2. Experience working with Microsoft Office– Outlook, Word, Excel. Intermediate level of
Microsoft Excel.
3. Two years minimum experience in US claims adjudication required, international claims
experience a plus.
4. Ability to conduct complex research of paid / unpaid claims and create comprehensive
case reports; ability to maintain track of large claims data.
5. Ability to perform Accounts Payable activities efficiently and effectively – comprehend,
reason, perform basic mathematical calculations and analysis
6. Ability to adapt to and learn new payment processing software
7. Ability to maintain attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in a busy
environment while meeting deadlines
8. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues, customers,
vendors, and physicians both orally and in written format
9. Positive attitude - able to work as a part of a team as well as independently
10. Familiarity with Travel Insurance industry preferred.
