SalarySENIOR ACCOUNTANT
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountantto join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for playing a key role in ensuring that our financial statements are accurate and compliant with current accounting standards. In addition to dealing with cyclical reporting duties, this person will act as a financial “generalist” handling projects that touch various areas such as operations and payroll. The position reports to the Controller and works closely with the broader organization.
The Senior Accountant will be primarily responsible for ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting for multiple business entities.
Main reponsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Own the financial reporting process for a portfolio of business entities by completing month, quarter, and year-end closing duties.
- Apply accounting techniques and standards to the classification and recording of financial transactions.
- Conduct transactional and variance analyses on general ledger accounts and use knowledge of business to analytically understand trends.
- Prepare general ledger account reconciliations and journal entries.
- Play a key role in annual financial audits by preparing work papers and interacting with external auditors.
- Assist with the annual budgeting process.
- Perform financial and business-related analyses and complete special projects.
- Cross-train/assist in other accounting and operations areas.
Qualifications required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5-7 years of related accounting experience
- Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and ability to apply them in practice
- Working knowledge of internal control processes
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically skilled in Excel
Preferred Qualifications
- Willingness and ability to cross-train in other accounting-related roles in a support capacity
- Experience with Sage Intacct or a similar large General Ledger system
- Familiarity with the Paychex Payroll system
