Position Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this role will be responsible for owning the revenue recognition process ensuring all contract revenue is recorded in compliance with GAAP (ASC 606). This position will collaborate with multiple departments on issues and navigate business impacts on revenue recognition. In addition, the role expands into other areas of accounting such as billing, debt and equity. You will have the opportunity to own the revenue process and contribute to the growth of the company and will be encouraged to make your own decisions, promote efficiencies, collaborate with others, apply your knowledge of accounting and build upon your current skill set.
The ideal candidate will have a thirst for knowledge, strive to take full ownership over the role and become an expert with the goal of progressing their career. This individual must have the desire and ability to contribute to a growing department in a highly dynamic environment. This role requires the individual to drive progress, identify and implement process improvement opportunities. Impeccable attention to detail and dedication to excellent work is required.

An outstanding Senior Accountant should possess excellent research skills, spreadsheet skills, embrace new challenges, be process-oriented, highly organized, able to work with little to no supervision and perform under pressure.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. You must have the ability to assume ownership of various processes and have a solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to strengthen governance, risk, and control environments.

In this role you'll get to:

  • Maintain the SaaSOptics billing and revenue platform
  • Interpret data, analyze contracts and communicate findings and recommendations
  • Manage large amounts of data and requests from multiple sources
  • Develop strong sales deal knowledge and understand the impacts to revenue recognition based on deal structure
  • Monitor A/R and the collections cycle
  • Ownership over debt compliance and debt transactions
  • Assist with equity transactions
  • Continuously improve accounting processes including monthly close
  • Manage the preparation and completion of the annual financial audit, bank audit and internal controls audit
  • Expand your reach into other accounting areas such as debt, leases and equity
  • Build internal department memos
  • Perform ad hoc projects as needed

To be successful in this role, you'll need to:

  • Demonstrate eagerness to learn, grow, drive progress and contribute to the company
  • Have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of Accounting theory - specific experience with ASC606, SaaS revenue and Gross vs Net principal is highly desirable
  • Demonstrate diverse career experience with broad exposure to multiple areas of accounting principles, industries, personalities and interactions from Staff to C-Suite levels
  • Have audit firm experience with an emphasis on technical accounting - this role will involve researching accounting principals and applying the guidance independently
  • Be a self-starter capable of independently researching and providing solutions, while also being able to take direction
  • Demonstrate strong technology skills using Excel or G-Suite such as vlookups, pivot tables and more in order to manipulate and analyze data
  • Strive for excellence, efficiency and demonstrate impeccable attention to detail and accuracy
  • Constantly adjust, re-prioritize work and multi-task during the continuously changing business and operations cycle
  • Have strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Clearly communicate variances and findings
  • Possess experience with Netsuite, SaaSOptics/Maxio, Salesforce, and Zip or comparable software
  • Possess a high degree of integrity

In the first 90-days, you'll need to:

  • 30-Days
    • Be able to process sales orders accurately and efficiently
    • Be able to perform all close duties and reconciliations
  • 60-Days
    • Be able to fully understand the transactions and accounting
    • Be able to scrutinize and ask critical questions on sales orders
    • Build our system procedures memos
  • 90-Days
    • Be able to add efficiency and improvements to the process
    • Be able to fully communicate with other departments

Statutory Pay Disclosure:

The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $120,000 + stock options + benefits. Actual compensation may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level.
