Fast paced multi-specialty group located in Ashburn, VA. The position provides senior level accounting services for physician practices of various specialties.
Position Overview:
The Senior accountant is expected to actively work with management and stakeholders at all levels of the organization. The position will be heavily involved in day-to-day oversite of vendor invoice processing, employee expense reports, account reconciliations, as well as annual, or long-term responsibilities such as quarterly distributions, annual tax filings, and 401k administration. The position will report directly to the COO.
Responsibilities Include:
- Apply a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
- Prepare timely and accurate journal entries
- Prepare monthly/quarterly account reconciliations on assigned balance sheet accounts and research open items for timely resolution; both within accounting and between accounting and patient billing.
- Ensures accurate and timely monthly close including all financial reporting deadlines
- Receive, Accurately Code, Review and Process Accounts Payable and Employee Expense Reports in accordance with the company’s reporting structure,
- Work with the HR department on processing payroll and ensure that the payroll reconciles to the labor distribution generated by the accounting system.
- Monitor compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and company procedures
- Assist with analyzing financial statements on a monthly basis and report on variances.
- Assist outside accounting firm with financial, tax and 401k audits
- Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls
- Assist on the process of negotiating and maintaining procurement contracts
- Perform other accounting, financial or administrative tasks as may be required by the Accounting Office and COO
- Ensure book keeper is accurately trained and is diligently processing AP documents.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications/Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting
- Strong understanding of accounting theory
- Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to meet assigned deadlines
- Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction to accomplish objectives
- Team player with excellent communications skills
- Advanced skill set in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- CPA not required, but a plus
- Experience in the health care industry a plus
Education:
- BA/BS in Accounting or Finance

Pay: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
