Exciting Direct Hire Opportunity!
Our client, a global chemical manufacturer, is currently seeking a Sr. Accountant to join their team in the Greater New Orleans area. The Sr. Accountant is responsible for performing financial accounting functions of the business and management of the corporate accounting functions (e.g., close/consolidations, financial reporting, fixed assets, etc.).
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with the period-end accounting close and consolidation process
- Performs close activities including consolidation journal entries, debt related entries, general ledger analysis, and variance analysis for corporate entities
- Assists in managing the intercompany close process
- Assists in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements
- Prepares various account reconciliations
- Assist with Fixed Asset and lease accounting
- Maintain the Fixed Asset and lease accounting software (e.g., additions, disposals, etc.)
- Prepare review and present the monthly Fixed Asset and lease reports in a timely manner
- Review fixed asset suspense account and liaise with various departments to determine if work is completed
- Review classification on approved Authorized Fixed Expenditures (AFEs) and query initiator for further clarification if required to ensure proper classification
- Assists with quarterly/annual financial reporting and related notes/disclosures
- Prepares schedules and working papers required for the audit
- Reviews financial results, variance analysis and related explanations of variances
- Prepares debt covenant related analysis and reports
- Assists with annual statutory financial reporting
- Assists in the preparation of subsidiary financial statements with appropriate reporting GAAP
- Liaise with other members of the finance, treasury and tax team to gather information and schedules required for statutory filings
- Assists in the statutory audit process
- Maintenance of the general ledger system
- Manage the maintenance of the general ledger system including setting up and mapping of various accounting strings
- Coordinates with the BI team to ensure updates in the division, account, base and department mappings are implemented in the BI reports
- May perform other duties as assigned
- Ability to identify and help drive process improvement initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Required: B.S. degree in Accounting or other business-related field
- Preferred: Master’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration, CPA, or CMA
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience
- Experience working as an accountant or financial analyst within a manufacturing or related company with annual revenues of over $200+ million
- Must be proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Experience working in private equity owned and publicly traded organizations
- Experience with the analysis of M&A activities
- Experience in the chemical industry
