Job description

Job Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing complex accounting needs for the company and it's affiliates. Duties include assuming leadership role to guide accounting personnel in daily tasks, reviewing financial data to make forecasting decisions and communicating with company C-Suite about financial strategies. The Senior Accountant will lead contract and sub-contract accounting support, as well as manage the use of accounting software. This position requires the Senior Accountant to be a fast learner and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
In completing the accountant duties, the following essential Functions apply:
· Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and alerts the President if necessary.
· Reconcile accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
· Delegate financial responsibilities to the accounting team.
· Oversee Accounts payable and receivable.
· Assist with audits and taxes.
· Proofs accounting reports for clerical accuracy.
· May train, oversee subordinate accounting staff.
· Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating and entering transactions.
· Reconcile general ledger accounts.
· Post monthly adjusting journal entries.
· Enter vendor bills.
· Create client invoices.
· Enter and maintain vendor and client information into financial management system.
· Monthly closings.
· Financial reporting.
· Bank and credit card reconciliations.
· Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending improvements.
· Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
· Accomplish accounting and organization mission by completing related tasks as needed.
· Has knowledge of commonly used accounting and bookkeeping guidelines.

· Efficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Power Point.
· Knowledgeable and efficient in the use and functionality of Paycom.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. and sit or stand for periods throughout the work day.
Work Environment
Work will be conducted in a home office environment or remote, and some requirements to work with media sources at their locale as needed. Position requires both sitting and standing in situations.
Education and/or Experience
A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, or in a related field preferred.
Must possess 5+ years of experience with processing multi-state payrolls and accounting software.
Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
NetSuite and QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop experience
Must possess strong technical background in the area specified, strong analytical skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite skills with high functioning level of spreadsheets.
