Job Title
Senior Accessibility Specialist for Digital Access
Department

Essential Functions
Full time position reporting directly to the Accessibility Services Center Director. The position provides academic accommodations and support directly to students with disabilities and the faculty and staff that serve students requiring accommodations. The position is responsible for the coordination of assistive technology access and support for students registered with the Accessibility Services Center (ASC). This position will share responsibility for all document conversions for students with disabilities, including but not limited to, electronic and Braille formats. Provides support and consultation directly to ASC registered students and the faculty and staff that serve the students requiring accommodations.
Collaboration with the Instructional Design Team regarding assistive technology and Universal Design best practices as well as the delivery of presentations/training to students/faculty/staff at UNO. This position requires a high level of engagement with students, faculty, staff and departments across the campus. This position will have responsibility for educating the campus community on assistive technology and compliance standards in conjunction with University constituents responsible for Section 508 (ADAAA). This position, in partnership with the ASC leadership team, will maintain the assistive technology and alternative format student databases in accordance to FERPA and university policies.
Work Schedule
Monday-Friday 8-5pm, occasional evenings and weekends
Additional Duties
  • Assists in oversight and training student workers.
  • Serves on University-wide committees & taskforces at the discretion of the ASC Associate Director.
  • Handle sensitive personal interactions with students and faculty in management of confidential information and materials in accordance with FERPA and University policy.
  • Must be able to elicit necessary information from students and faculty to support access to assistive technology support.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Special Education, Counseling, Psychology, Student Services, Social Work, Information Services or closely related field.
  • Experience with conflict resolution, case management and training development and facilitation.
  • Knowledge of ADA/ADAAA and Section 504 & Section 508.
  • Will consider equivalent education and experience.
