POSITION DETAILS
The Division of Enrollment Management implemented a new advising model through the creation of The Center for Student Advisement and Success. The Center is
comprised of three distinct areas: the newly established Onboarding Advisement Office, an expanded Office of Undergraduate Academic Advisement, and an enhanced Graduation Specialists Unit under the Office of the Registrar. The Center for Student Advisement and Success will assist undergraduate students in establishing and achieving graduation goals by providing student-focused, holistic advisement from onboarding to persistence through graduation.
Reporting to the Director in the Onboarding Advisement Office, the Senior Academic Advisor will be responsible for, but not limited to;
• Provides support in the areas of onboarding, advisement, and registration of all entering undergraduate students
• Advises a caseload of approximately 600 students on academic issues with respect to curriculum and general education requirements, major and minor areas, and academic policies and standards including grading policies, and various appeal processes
• Utilizing EAB Navigate to run targeted campaigns to support students in removing holds preventing enrollment and course registration
• Assists and maintains OAO outreach and retention campaigns by leveraging current technology and communication tools
• Create pathways to faculty advisors for the cohort and partner with academic programs and administrative areas to develop and place students into mentoring, research, internship, summer/winter programs, and/or career shadowing opportunities
• Participates in OAO committees, college-wide committees, and partner with OAO affiliated academic and student support services
• Referring students to appropriate academic and student support services when needed, outside of the realm of onboarding advisement and registration
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.

Works with other academic affairs staff as well as enrollment and student affairs to assist students to declare majors and select appropriate courses
Monitors students' performances and takes appropriate action if necessary; resolves students' problems regarding curricular requirements
Develops academic plans and performs graduation audits
Provides information to students regarding student support services, college policies and program procedures and guidelines
Facilitates workshops; assists with other department activities such as course scheduling
Establishes and maintains student advisement files; prepares activity reports and analyses
May supervise extramural activities, such as internships and community service; may assist with accreditation efforts as needed
May provide career and transfer services and/or specialized program counseling
May supervise junior advising and/or clerical staff
Performs related duties as assigned.
