Senior 3D Artist
Very Very Spaceship is an independent game development studio with a creative crew of space faring game designers, engineers, and artists from the Pacific Northwest & beyond. Founded by BAFTA winner Sean Vesce (Never Alone, Tomb Raider Series, Mechwarrior Series), and working with incredible partners like Google, Niantic Labs, Microsoft, and others, Very Very Spaceship has been solving engineering problems of the unknown and making shared game experiences with AR, VR, Geolocation, Live Streaming and more.
As a Senior 3D Artist, you will be driving the creation of virtual assets and processing existing assets to be compatible with a new system. You’ll collaborate with the art lead, fellow artists, and engineers while working on a globally successful mobile game.
Responsibilities:
- Create high quality 3D assets like characters, environments, and props to integrate into games by modeling, sculpting, and texturing based on concept art and design specifications
- Maintain optimal game performance by optimizing 3D models and textures, ensuring efficient polygon counts and levels of detail.
- Author hand painted textures and develop materials and shaders that bring assets to life visually aligned to artistic direction and render pipeline
- Assist the Art Lead in providing mentorship and training in new tools and techniques to the team
- Contributes to a range of deliverables within the VVS studio team
- Liaise with software engineers and game designers
Qualifications:
- High proficiency in Maya, ZBrush, Photoshop, Substance Painter, Unity, Perforce, Sourcetree
- 6+ years professional experience in the gaming industry
- Multiple examples of quality game-ready 3D work for characters, environments, vehicles, architecture
- In-depth experience with model optimization for real-time game engines
- Understanding of rendering & shading techniques for real-time rendering
- Strong technical and aesthetic skills demonstrated
Location: We currently operate in a hybrid work environment at this time, so remote work is possible, however we host two anchor days a week in office, Tuesday & Thursday, where team members are expected to come in. Our studio space is in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle.
Compensation: The annual base salary range for this position is USD $87,500 - $120,000. Very Very Spaceship considers factors such as (but not limited to): scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. Salary is only one component of the total rewards package offered at VVS.
