A Brief Overview
Directs, coordinates and motivates security officers in enforcing regulations, policies and public laws that contribute to the safety and security of patients, visitors and employees of the medical center. Assists in training officers in security, safety and law enforcement subjects. Responds to the needs of other departments or groups within Stormont Vail Health. Responsible for the scheduling and discipline of subordinates. Performs follow-up investigations of incidents. Assists in crime prevention programs and completes or manages special projects that promote a safe and secure environment. Responsible for locking and unlocking the hospital.
Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Law enforcement or a related area. Preferred

Experience Qualifications
  • 2 years Security/law enforcement experience. Required
  • Supervisory experience. Preferred

What you will do
  • Interior and exterior patrol and surveillance. This can include standing and monitoring a specific location such as parking lot, lobby, or patient areas. May perform patient standbys.
  • Responds to calls or requests, including emergencies, which may include but not limited to:
    • Burglar, panic, fire and Infant abduction alarms
    • Calls for assists with Trauma patients
  • Performs building searches, locks/unlocks secure areas.
  • Monitor cameras. Review and pull footage for investigations.
  • Security Transport escorts to Stormont Vail Behavioral Health, Ronald McDonald House transports. Maintain employee vehicle registration and parking assignments.
  • Performs supervisory duties over security staff. This may include but not limited to orienting staff, conducting performance management, resolving conflict, staff scheduling, assigning activities, etc.
  • Assists with patient restraints under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Assist patients as necessary.
  • Assist with loading/unloading patients from vehicles. Assists with air ambulance arrivals/departures
  • Motorist assists consisting of jumpstarts and airing up tires.
  • Identify safety issues and report to the appropriate authority. Identify maintenance/repair concerns and report to Facilities Management. Conducts monthly fire drills and extinguisher checks. Monitors for Interim Life Safety Measurers that are put into place.
  • Serve court documents.
  • Public liaison between SVH staff, & TPD, TFD, SNSO & community.
  • Resolve conflicts with patients, visitors & employees.
  • Report writing.

Travel Requirements
  • 30% As necessary to escort, transport, and monitor Stormont's various locations.
