Supervises the Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) for the department. Serves as the Local Agency Security Officer (LASO) for the department. Supervises administrative support to the Communications Division. Oversees background checks and ensures proper management of required documentation for security clearance for all CJIS controlled facilities in the County.
- Oversees training provided to the Sheriff's Office communicating KCJIS rules and expectations; oversee activations/deactivations of user accounts; coordinates software installs for users; completes troubleshooting for users and contacts provider for more complex issues.
- Oversees coordination of the use of the NCIC computer system under the oversight of the KBI; reviews the usage and provides administrative support for the Kansas Criminal Justice Information System (KCJIS); ensures policies are strictly followed; acts as the Sheriff's Office point of contact for KCJIS; reviews and stays current regarding usage guidelines and rules to ensure continued access to NCIC data for the Sheriff's Office. Supervises the assignment, update, and revocation of RSI Token access to employees for authentication into the NCIC system. Oversees validations on NCIC records pertaining to guns, licesnse plates, vehicles, and missing persons.
- Serves as the Sheriff's Office primary point of contact for State and Federal auditors in regards to implementation of NCIC/KCJIS policy modifications, audits, and compliance matters across the entire Agency.
- Provides guidance to Supervisors to ensure proper procedures are followed in regards to all NCIC related duties to within the Warrants Division, Civil Division, Detention Division, and Central Records Division to include entries, modifications, removals, and validations of the file types relevant to the respective Divisions.
- Act as the Local Agency Security Officer for the Sheriff's Office; ensure Agency compliance with security awareness testing, security of sensitive information, CCC/Sheriff's Office facilities door card access, as well as coordinate with IT staff to ensure network security. Oversees annual Security Awareness training for all employees, contractors, and vendors of the Sheriff's Office.
- Conducts audits of Sheriff's Office Divisions in order to ensure compliance with NCIC regulations as well as ensure best practices are being used for data security. Responsible for conducting NCIC misuse investigations and communicating findings to the KBI as well as rectifying any issues through the applicable Division's Supervisors to ensure continued compliance with KCJIS and FBI policy. Charged with the highest authority over any NCIC related matters in the Agency regardless of rank.
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Full Access NCIC certification preferred. Experience in NCIC record entries, modifications, removals, and validations preferred.
Two years relevant experience required. Two years using criminal justice information databases or relevant experience required. Previous experience working in a law enforcement agency preferred. Valid driver's license required.
