Provide security for patients, employees, and visitors. Protect hospital building, assets and premises as assigned. Oversees all the hospital's security systems. Helps to lead the daily operations of the hospital's Security Officers and safety techs. Assist the Manager of Safety and Security with Emergency Management.

- Patrol hospital buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and intruders.
- Monitor conduct of visitors on hospital premises.
- Confront unauthorized persons for questioning as needed.
- Perform investigations for incidents criminal and non-criminal which occur on property.
- Report safety and/or fire hazards or security violations.
- Trend analysis and mitigation of identified security risks. This will also include participation in risk assessments as appropriate.
- Maintains daily security logs and reports.
- Monitoring, managing, testing and training of UnityPoint Health-Allen security systems, which include, but are not limited to camera systems, access control systems, duress buttons, infant abduction systems, and patient wandering systems.
- Assist in safety and security educational programs for the hospital.
- High School/GED
- 2 years Security or Law Enforcement experience
- Certification as Advanced Healthcare Security Officer (if not certified, must obtain certification within 90 days) OR Certified Law Enforcement Officer within the state of Iowa or retired law enforcement in good standing. Law enforcement officer within Black Hawk County preferred
- Professional or Non-Professional Permit to Carry Weapons per Iowa Code Chapter 724 OR 5 years of Law Enforcement Officer experience.
- Annual Firearm qualified documentation.
- Must have all National Incident Management System compliant classes taken within one year.
- Must read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with people of diverse professional, educational and lifestyle backgrounds.
