IOWA SPEEDWAY
Located near Des Moines, Iowa Speedway joined the NASCAR family of tracks in 2013. Known as the "Fastest Short Track on the Planet", Iowa Speedway plays host to two major race weekends a year, welcoming the ARCA Menards Series and the NTT INDYCAR Series. The track was designed by NASCAR Hall of Famer Rusty Wallace.
Do you like to be outside? Want to make a little extra money? Want something exciting to do this summer? Iowa Speedway is seeking part-time seasonal Event Staff for our Security team. For 2024, we will host the NASCAR Cup Series, XFINITY Series, and ARCA Series this June 14-16. The NTT INDYCAR Series returns to Iowa Speedway July 12-14 for the Hy-Vee INDYCAR Race Weekend, featuring two INDYCAR races and concerts by Luke Combs, Post Malone, and other recording artists.
The Security team provides a visible security presence for competitors, guests and employees throughout the Speedway property to uphold policies and procedures while maintaining positive guest experiences.
Summary
You will assist in maintaining the safety, security, and orderly operations of Iowa Speedway while providing exceptional customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Maintain posts and screen guests for proper tickets and credentials throughout the facility on race weekends.
Control access to different areas on-site to only persons with proper credentials, using verbal communication and physical presence.
Ensure safety is maintained by enforcing Iowa Speedway/NASCAR rules/policies.
Provide outstanding customer service by offering information, giving directions, and answering questions.
Assist competitors, owners, and race officials by managing infield/overflow parking areas.
Maintain the physical security of garages, haulers, race cars, competitors’ equipment, and other assigned areas by patrolling on foot or in Iowa Speedway vehicles.
Roam the grounds on foot and in golf carts assisting guests, relieving co-workers for breaks, and responding to calls for assistance.
Search bags of ticketed guests entering the garage area and board incoming RVs parking on RV Hill being alert for weapons and contraband.
Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak clearly and effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
Access, willingness, and ability to communicate via emails and text messages
