The Integrity Investigations and Intelligence organization is dedicated to protecting the users of Meta's family of applications (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus) from the worst kinds of threats we experience. The ideal candidate will be an innovative self-starter, who is motivated by our mission, is results-driven, and will be able to extract, assimilate, and correlate a wide variety of data in order to surface and disrupt sophisticated actors.We are seeking an experienced investigator to detect and understand financially motivated bad actors, investigate complex threats to our business and our users, advance investigative methods, and use innovative approaches to protecting people and businesses from harm. The candidate must be able to use code to automate investigative actions and have a proficiency in scripting languages such as PHP or Python.
- Proactively hunt for and understand threats and undetected abuse by leveraging large internal datasets, open-source intelligence, and third party private intelligence.
- Proactively surface gaps in our systems used to detect, measure, or enforce against harm and abuse.
- Investigate complex cases to understand in granular detail how abuse is occurring. Identify and implement appropriate enforcement strategies to mitigate harm both in the current case and from similar forward-looking abuse.
- Identify effective strategies to prevent or disrupt abuse at scale. Consult on the design of countermeasures to effect those strategies.
- Respond to high priority escalations or incidents of abuse by sophisticated or complex actors evading system protections.
- Improve the efficiency of everyday tasks and actions conducted during investigations and team processes.
- Take a leadership role in suggesting, prototyping, and teaching novel investigative techniques.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience working with Python, PHP or similar scripting languages.
- 5+ years work experience in a cyber security, security investigations, trust & safety, or threat intelligence investigations role.
- Experience conducting large scale data analysis and utilizing big data tools such as sql, jupyter notebooks, etc.
- Experience investigating and acting on high-impact threats such as financial scams, ad fraud and abuse, business compromise, or botnets.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BS/MS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Intelligence Studies, Cybersecurity or related field
- Background and expertise in one or many of the following areas: compromised accounts, scams, deception, scripting abuse, and/or abusive ads/businesses.
- Experience with open source investigation techniques and familiarity with a variety of internet research tools
- Experience working with teams spanning multiple locations/time zones
- Regional knowledge and/or language skills
