Secretary II

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent required, Associate’s degree preferred; proven work experience as a Secretary or Administrative Assistant, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
REQUIREMENTS: Must pass a criminal background investigation, pre-employment physical, and drug test.
NATURE OF WORK PERFORMED: This position provides clerical and administrative support for the Community and Economic Development Department, including the Bureau of Planning & Zoning.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: Answers phone calls and redirects callers when necessary; prepares and disseminates correspondence, memos and forms; types and distributes agenda for boards and commissions to the members, media, and general public; informs property owners of zoning appeals; mails notifications of board actions; maintains files; compiles data for preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual activity reports; schedules appointments; and takes minutes of meetings; performs data entry.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: High degree of multi-tasking and time management capability; excellent written and verbal communication skills; integrity and professionalism; proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); data entry skills with high degree of accuracy; good customer skills and ability to work well with others; proven ability to work with minimum supervision and respect for confidentiality; may be required to attend evening Planning Committee meetings held monthly.
