- Assists the CIS department head by performing administrative functions and general office work for all programs in the department.
- Answers questions from both undergraduate and graduate students. When needed, refers them to appropriate administrators, faculty, and staff. Prepares forms and materials for the department head’s signature, including student waivers, late class admits, and grade change requests.
- Becomes familiar with international student policies. Answers questions from international students and assists them in understanding policies and procedures within the department, as well as resources available to them on campus. When necessary, refers them to appropriate administrators or Center for Global Engagement staff. Prepares forms and materials for the department head’s signature, including course withdrawal forms, change of major forms, and other documents needed for international students.
- Assists the CIS department head in working with approximately 60 part-time faculty. Answers questions from part-time faculty members and, when needed, refers them to appropriate administrators, faculty, and staff. Coordinates and schedules meetings. Collects and organizes syllabi and end of year reports each semester. Works with publishers to order textbooks and software as needed. Manages entry of book orders with the bookstore each semester.
- Assists the CIS department head by providing summarized report data as needed for various departmental tasks, including but not limited to enrollment numbers for programs/courses, course rosters, student lists by GPA, etc.
- Assists the CIS department head by coordinating directed and independent study applications each semester. Completes paperwork and assists with obtaining student and faculty signatures. Maintains a spreadsheet/database of directed studies with all necessary data each semester.
- Assists the CIS department head by coordinating internship applications each semester. Completes paperwork and assists with communication between the department, student, faculty supervisor, and Career Center, as needed. Maintains a spreadsheet/database of internships with all necessary data each semester.
- Coordinates CIS student and faculty events, examples of which include recruiting, advising, student orientation, recognition ceremonies, student competitions, and other events. Schedules facilities, prepares materials and mailings, orders equipment and food, and attends the function, if needed.
- Assists administrators in formatting and revising program brochures, department documentation, presentations, recruiting materials, and website content.
- Edits and posts content on the CIS blog as requested by the department head.
- Attends CIS department meetings and takes meeting minutes.

- High school diploma required. Associate's degree preferred or equivalent office/administrative experience preferably in an academic setting.
- 3 years secretarial experience preferred.
- Proficient technology and computer skills required
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Google Applications (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Drive)
- Ability and willingness to learn new software and technologies
- Strong written communication skills, with expertise in proofreading, editing and formatting documents
- Strong organizational skills with close attention to detail
- Excellent customer relations and professional communication skills to interact closely with staff, faculty, and students, deal with multiple constituencies, and work with a diverse population
